in 2014, I was fortunate enough to take an immersion trip to Haiti, where I was able to learn about different non-profit organizations around the capital of the country. On this trip, I first met Danielle reid Penette of Maison L'Arc-en-Ciel Orphanage for children impacted.infected with HIV/AIDS located in Kenscoff, Haiti, and I was absolutely inspired by the amazing atmosphere and Danielle's dedication to some of the most vulnerable children in Haiti. I made it my goal to work everyday to create a plan to bring Maison L"Arc-en-CIel to a self-sustainable future through solar energy, agriculture, livestock, and beekeeping, through a project titled Honey for Haiti (www.HoneyforHaiti.org). The Rhode Island based Charity, Arpin Charitable Fund has been a vehicle for our work at Maison L'Arc-en-Ciel, by helping us fundraise and send money to Danielle/MAEC, while coving all of the related of overhead costs, so 100% of the money we raise for Honey for Haiti goes directly to implementing sustainable development projects at Maison L'Arc-en-Ciel.
As a full time student, I created Honey for Haiti because I truly believe that with our plan for sustainable development at L'Arc-en-Ciel, we can ensure the orphanage will be in operation for decades to come, while at the same time providing educational vocational opportunities for the children of L'Arc-en-Ciel so they can have a full skill set and ability to smoothly reintegrate into Haitian society and become flourishing individuals. Arpin Charitable Fund has made our work to fundraise here in Rhode Island possible, and a 10,000 dollar donation to them would be used in its entirety to continue and grow sustainable development activities at L'Arc-en-Ciel, specifically funding the construction and equipment for a hydroponic farming facility that has the potential to create over 45,000 in annual revenue for Maison L'Arc-en-Ciel, allowing them to take in more children and save/improve their lives, an provide a family atmosphere they will not be able to find anywhere else in Haiti.
Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
