Mission: AFHA aims to end the substandard housing conditions that our military families are exposed to. We strive to provide comprehensive, free-of-cost services that empower residents to learn about MHPI and how to navigate the MHPI system, ensuring their homes are safe and habitable.

We all need to fight, especially on today, Veteran's Day, for appropriate safe, healthy, maintained housing for our active duty members and their families. The 50 year fraudulent contract companies like BALFOUR BEATTY have no right to profit off service members while forcing them to live in substandard conditions while obviously committing fraud.

AFHA helps EFMP families in our support groups. Anytime there is a housing issue we tag one of their members to provide advice. Sometimes we send people to them who found us and don’t know where to go for housing issues. AFHA always answers the call and is responsive and helpful 100% of the time. Highly recommend.

AFHA aided my family and I with several housing issues and I was more than appreciative of all their compassion, knowledge, and support. I was so deeply moved by their mission and touched by their kindness that I am now a resident turned volunteer. I am so proud to be a part of this organization and all that it fights for!

AFHA has helped me and so many families during some of the most stressful and confusing times involving private military housing. There are so many injustices and they are working very diligently to try and help as many families as possible and to help fix the system to prevent some of the things currently happening from happening in the future. Such an amazing team to work with thank you.

I am always happy to support AFHA's mission of readiness starts with a safe home. The amount of advocacy support the volunteers/advocates provide to families goes above and beyond all expectations for most nonprofits. Their team works tirelessly to make sure families are aware of their rights as servicemembers in privatized military housing. Thank you AFHA for your dedication to military servicemembers and their families!

It is about time! I know I needed help and when I heard about this amazing organization I knew they would do all they could and they did! I do not personally know any of these individuals but I am incredibly proud of all them. They saw a need and they go above and beyond to fill it. No selfish motivations they do this because they truly care and you feel that 100% of the way. In the past we have always felt we had no power or choice and just had to be complacent even if it meant risking your health and the health of your family. These amazing individuals have done the research, have taken the classes and have made sure they are now experts in this situations. Knowledge is power and they have the knowledge and use it empower. They will help with fair housing, accommodating housing, and safe housing! We are all always told it’s a community and they love serving those who serve. I known unfortunately that majority of the time that is not true. The AFHA is a community and they truly care and are devoted to making sure every individual in a family who serves is being heard. You are not alone. Don’t hesitate this organization wants to make sure you are safe, happy, and healthy in your home. Thank you will never be enough!

AFHA really helped me and my family through the water crisis in Hawaii this year. Especially when we were met with a lot of resistance from the Navy. Very professional and really helpful!

My son suffered chronic respiratory illness for over a year while living in a severely water damaged, moldy house on an Army installation. I wasn’t getting anywhere with the private housing company, so I turned to AFHA for help. My advocate educated me on the tenant bill of rights and the informal dispute process. Armed with education and empowerment, I was able to advocate for myself and break lease so my family could live in a safe home. My son made a full recovery once he was out of that house, and my family now lives in a safe home off post with no damage to our credit from breaking our lease. AFHA was with us through it all

When my child fell from our window, AFHA was right there to help. They provided me and my family with feee mental health care, and helped me find a mental health provider in my area for org term help. Kate was along side with me the whole time, making sure I understood my rights, supporting me emotionally, and helped me get window guards installed in my house to make sure this never happens again. She even helped me advocate for my whole community and now we are all allowed to ask for window guards at no cost!

I love this non profit and all it stands for. Our military families deserve better when it comes to privatized housing and AFHA is advocating for that!

I’ve lived in military housing my entire life. I lived in wwII era housing growing up as an army brat, and that housing has since been replaced with MHPI privatized housing. While living in MHPI housing near Pearl Harbor, my family was exposed to Jp-5 jet fuel in our tap water due to negligence by the Navy at the Red Hill jet fuel storage facility. Initially my family was told by both housing & the Navy that the water was safe and we should continue to drink it. Eventually it was confirmed that the water was contaminated. But the confirmation was too little too late. My children were already sick. My son was covered in hives and my middle daughter couldn’t keep anything down. The day we smelled the fuel in our water, we left our house and never went back. It was a very difficult few months for my family. I felt like every day I had to wake up ready to fight. I wanted to move my family to safety. But the community, housing and officials were all telling us that moving was not necessary. So we had to do everything ourselves.

The only light during this very dark time was AFHA. My advocates told me “we believe you” from day 1. They were on the ground with water and support from the moment residents expressed concern. Having a steady voice repeating “we believe you” made all the difference for me, every single day. Once I had my family moved to safety, I knew in my heart that I was meant to find AFHA. I love that I have the opportunity to be light in the dark for residents across America living in Military Housing.

I could not be more proud to be a client turned volunteer within this organization!

AFHA stepped in and helped me when I needed them and it led me to begin volunteering to help other families. My daughter now has an accessible home, and I've been able to help other families get them same. It is a great organization to be a part of and I enjoy every moment.
