Causes: Disaster Aid, Safety Education
Mission: Atef operates exclusively for charitable, educational, research, environmental and/or scientific purposes. Atef promotes and advances highway safety and a safe trucking industry through research, educational activities, media programs about safety, scholarships, and helps the understanding of the transportation and trucking industry.
Programs: Atef planned and staged 16 share the road safety events throughout the state, including presentations to high schools, safety fairs and other venues with approximately 9000 in attendance at the events. The goal of the programs was to train participants on how to safely share the road with large trucks and buses. Atef awarded ten scholarships totaling 15,000. Atef contracted with scholarship management services to screen applicants, verify information and make final recommendations. Ten dependents of trucking industry employees received 1,500 scholarships. Atefs safety awards program recognized companies and individuals who have contributed to improved truck safety in arizona. Co-sponsors of the noncash awards were the arizona department of public safety, j. J. Keller and associates, and transtar insurance brokers. Transtar insurance also provided a 1000 cash award to the arizona driver of the year. Atef is proud to announce the completion of a 20,000. Grant from the governors office of highway safety gohs for fy2017.
