in 2014, aedc continued efforts to help both local businesses and businesses from outside of alaska in an effort to support increased investment and expanded employment. Efforts resulted in aedc providing assistance to 433 companies. 379 of those companies were based within alaska and 54 companies were based outside of alaska. While direct cause and effect of these efforts by aedc on investment and job growth are difficult at best to define, as it is the private sector making investment and hiring decisions.
as aedc's largest program service, the communications and marketing campaign is designed to promote anchorage as a great place to locate a business, expand current business and live-work-play. By doing so, aedc fosters economic development for the region through an expanded economy buoyed by a vibrant, skilled and professional workforce. To achieve this purpose aedc actively pursued a national and local earned media campaign during 2014 that produced: 50,179,204 total media impressions $1,729,011 total ad equivalency public relations program -404 media placements.
