Causes: Food, Food Banks & Pantries
Mission: We want to mitigate food insecurity in the five boroughs of new york city by addressing the key causes: lack of time, lack of money, inaccessibility to nutritious food, and unfamiliarity with a variety of healthy ingredients, cooking methods and recipes. Ate offers financial support to organizations, individuals, projects, programs and/or new models that afford new york city families access to more sustainable and consistent food consumption with an emphasis on healthy eating.
Programs: The organization solicited grant proposals from organzations working to combat food insecurity and awarded three grants in 2017.
in 2017, the organization continued to find projects focusing on food insecurity in new york city. Realizing that there were no programs working on helping pregnant women and women with children under two years old to educate them on how to send their children into the world with healthy minds and bodies born of enought (and the right) food for healthy development. Ate solicitied grant proposals targeting this issued and funded two grants in this area.
