Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: Amigos de tres palmas is a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the commonwealth of puerto rico. Amigos de tres palmas is organized, and shall be operated, exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. More specifically, this not-for-profit environmental corporation has as its purpose the conservation, preservation, restoration and enjoyment of the natural resources and ecosystems of the tres palmas marine reserve and associated watersheds, through community action, research and education in rincon, puerto rico and the surrounding communities.
Programs: 8th anniversary of the tres palmas marine reserve activity. More than 1,000 persons attended, and it was celebrated in january 2012. Meetings, presentations, games and raffles were celebrated.
educational workshop provided to marine tour guides. Held on june 2012, with a total of 25 young participants from high schools. The workshop had a duration of 26 hours, to promote the organization's mission and importance.
board of directors' meeting, including approximately 15 residents from the community. Held to continue promoting the importance of the organization.
