Mission: The Foundation's Mission is to: * Create forums for youth education, * Build public understanding of Clean Water programs, * Encourage innovation and technology exchange, * Rekindle public interest in clean water, and * Promote personal stewardship of water resources.
Programs: - On Farm Assessment and Environmental Review (OFAER) project provides livestock producers a confidential, comprehensive and objective assessment of water quality, odor and pest risk factors at their operations. Participation in the project is purely voluntary on the part of and at no charge to the livestock producer. Producer participation and farm specific information is kept strictly confidential. A producer is provided a written assessment report following completion of an assessment. The assessment report provides recommendations to reduce an operation's actual or potential impact on surface or ground water quality, and ways to minimize the generation of odor and pests from an operation. - World Water Monitoring Day 2003: World Water Monitoring Day serves as a global educational platform for watershed leaders, educators and trained volunteers to help those who are less experienced better understand how the actions of individuals in a watershed can impact many others. From September 18 to October 18, citizens throughout the world community will have an opportunity to monitor the quality of their local watersheds and enter the results of their efforts into an international database. - State/Federal TMDL Liaison project: This project is designed to provide technical advice and assistance to State and Tribal environmental agencies to help them build the capacity to complete TMDLs.
