Mission: The purpose of the american orthoptic journal is to provide a published and citable repository and framework for academic and scientific literature in the specialized field of orthoptics, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and neuro ophthalmology to include national and international scientific research and papers on topics to include nystagmus, eye movement disorders, devolopment, assessment and treatment of all disorders of visual acuity, particularly as it relates to infants and children, detection and treament of amblyopia, assessment and treatment of normal and abnormal motility, assessment and treatment medical and surgical of normal and abnormal motility and binocularity, and forms of congenital and acquired strabismus.
Programs: Publication of the american orthoptic journal to enable those in the orthoptic and ophthalmologic communities to keep abreast of current clinical practice and research in ocular motility. The journal is the official journal of the american association of certified orhoptists (aaoc).
