Mission: The American National Theatre is dedicated to the advancement of American theatre through the annual presentation and celebration of the most excellent and distinguished new American plays and musicals with their original companies and creative teams at a theatre center in New York. The focus of The American National Theatre is set on that most essential theatre artist, the writer, and on encouraging the writing of new plays and musicals. By showcasing the work of nonprofit theatres and the talent of theatre artists nationwide in our country''s artistic and media capital, New York City, The American National Theatre will renew interest in and respect for live American theatre for audiences from every corner of the world.
Programs: The American National Theatre Festival (opening June 2006), featuring two series of staged readings and one full presentation, will mark the inaugural programmatic offering of The American National Theatre.
