Programs: Fluoride action network (fan)- staff responded to questions from citizens, officials, and the media; made short videos; participated in meetings; made submissions to various regulatory agencies; issued press releases, and updated the website daily. Submissions to the national toxicology program on fluoride's neurotoxicity and carcinogenicity; petition to remove fluoride supplements from the marketplace; added over 90 published studies on the adverse effects of fluoride to our studytracker, along with 963 news articles. New resources added to the website include the toxic release inventory on fluorides and the identification of high fluoride water levels by state. Other issues staff worked on were: widespread failure to notify residents of toxic fluoride in their drinking water; investigation that revealed pharmacies are breaking federal & state laws; a review of fluoride study in calgary that was highly promoted by the press but was fatally flawed due to the omission of key data. We delivered a substantive petition, with over 300 references, calling on the environmental protection agency to ban the deliberate addition of fluoridating chemicals to the drinking water under provisions in the toxic substances control act to epa on 11/22/16 in washington, dc. Joining fan in the petition were food & water watch, organic consumers association, the american academy of environmental medicine, the international academy of oral medicine and toxicolgy, and moms against fluoridation.
