Mission: The acvpm challenges fellow veterinarians engaged in public practice to improve the strength and breadth of their knowledge in veterinary preventive medicine by pursuing board certification. This experience will enhance personal skills, expand professional expertise, strengthen the specialty of veterinary preventive medicine and ultimately favorably affect the health of mankind and the animal kingdom.
Programs: The acvpm exists to provide board certification to qualified veterinarians in veterinary public health & preventative medicine. It provides continuing educational matieral via printed & electronic news & job listings. Education materials is also presented at various meetings. The acvpm promotes & provides information to other professionals and the lay public on the role of veterinarians in public health and preventative medicine (food safety, bio-terrorism, zoonotic diseases, enviromental hazards of animal origin, etc). There are over 550 members of the acvpm. Virtually all income is from dues and examination fees. No grants are involved, thus it is immpossible to categorize (28-31) expenses as expenses are not maintained in such a budgetary manner.
