Mission: American board of opticianry and national contact lens examiners, inc. 's (abo-ncle) mission is to identify qualified eyewear providers by examination, urge growth of optical skills with continuing education and approve continuing education.
Programs: Examinations - maintain and administer the national opticianry competency exam, the advanced opticianry competency exam, and the master in ophthalmic optics program. Adopt continuing education requirements for recertification.
conference - conference is the only national educational conference conducted exclusively for opticians and contact lens technicians and is designed to allow for the highest caliber of technical education at a reasonable cost for opticians and contact lens technicians. It is also used to allow for collaboration between and among each of the three appointing organizations, and other affiliated organizations, and to reduce costs previously borne by those appointing organizations.
awareness and outreach - the awareness and outreach program involves our attendance at state society conferences, corporate conferences, and regional meetings/conferences. We provide financial and other support to non-profit opticianry programs in order to promote the need for certification and continuing education in the fields of opticianry and contact lens.
