I had a great experience interning with America On Track, helping both the tobacco control team and the nutrition team. I got to support outreach efforts, assist with tobacco-related programs, and help with nutrition classes. This internship helped me improve my communication skills, learn how to support health education in the community, and understand how public health events are organized. I also learned how to create flyers, organize materials, and do some basic admin work. The staff are really friendly and supportive, and they take the time to train you and answer your questions. It was a good environment to grow professionally and personally.
Yathjaira was a pleasure to work with since day 1. She presented the Nutrition class at our site for our students, and prepared the same classes for our families. She had a full wrap around service for our community ensuring a deep penetration of healthy habit knowledge in our community. We look forward to having here again soon! Thank you Yathjaira and all the wonderful people to make magic happen at America on Track!
Working for America On Track was a great experience overall and allowed me to step out of my comfort zone through community engagement. This non profit offers a very good work schedule along with great people who are willing to help you along the way. What I personally loved about the experience was working with kids and parents throughout schools in order to educate them on living a healthier lifestyle through games and events. I would recommend working for America On Track Whether you are looking for general experience or wish to grow with the non profit overall!
I had a lot of fun working with America On Track as a nutrition intern. Being here helped me practice speaking up, learning Spanish, and how to handle nutrition classes by myself. You also get to see what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to planning nutrition based events. Here at this nonprofit, you learn the stages of planning and the pre/post reports that need. The people here are very welcoming an friendly. They train you on how to teach nutrition classes, how to file paper work, and basic administrative skills.
The America on track is one on the best program for my son, he join this program he was a very shy kid who wasn't able to talk to new people and over the 3 years I saw many changes in him, he became more confident and started to talk to new people and make a lot of new friends. This program helped my son improve his leadership and public speaking skills, so I am grateful for this program and I want to thank Terry and Clare for create this program.

My daughter has been volunteering at this nonprofit for two years and has truly enjoyed her experience. The organization is exceptionally well-structured, and the staff members are not only kind and flexible but also highly motivating. I appreciate the positive atmosphere, which allows teens to develop valuable leadership skills, as well as compassion and patience. From day one, they are encouraged to be role models, fostering personal growth and responsibility.
Hello, my name is Victor Im from Irvine High School. My experience as America On Track's Emerging Leader Program as elementary student for 2 years and as teen leader for 2 years help me to learn leadership and engage more on my community. Before I start this Emerging Leader program, since I came from different country when I was 3rd Grade, I was having hard time making friends and presenting in class. However, after I joined America On Track's Emerging Leader Program, I was able to make friends at my age and I was able to present more comfortably in my schools and I started to involve a lot in my community. Overall, America On Track's Emerging Leader Program helped me to make more friends, grows public speaking and leadership skills, and helped me to involve a lot in my community.
My daughter has been volunteering here from past year, she loves it. She likes working with young children and also doing presentations. She likes leadership program it has helped her lot in attaining leadership skills
My daughter volunteers at this organization and she loves it here. Every time she comes home from volunteering she always has a smile on her face.
I wanted to talk again about this nonprofit because of how kind everyone in this organization is. My daughter was recently contacted to serve as a returning teen leader this year, and everyone who communicated with her and me was extremely kind and helpful.
Hello my name is Rodrigo Martinez, I am a senior at Middle college, I believe that being part of America on Track Emerging leaders for Civil engagement was the first step I took in stepping out my comfort zone, before joining I was someone who was super introvert especially when it came to talking to new people, taking leadership roles, and giving presentations. Through the opportunity of gaining leadership skills through mentoring elementary students and being the role model allowed me to get the chance of doing something a lot of youth aren’t able to. For example we get to learn about topic we don’t get taught at school like how to be leaders and lesson about problems in our world. After join America on Track it gave me the confidence of join many clubs and programs which as of now I have acquired various leadership positions which is something I couldn’t have imagined doing but thanks to this amazing program of America On Track I was able to improve my life while giving back to my community. I would recommend this program to anyone especially of those who still are stuck in whether they should join because in order to be a leader you have to take that first step and America On Track Emerging Leaders for a Civil Engagement is a amazing place to start.
As a teen leader for America on track I can confidentiality say that I am truly impressed by the work America on track is doing in my community as their program has not only benefited me but also many others. Their mission to inspire youth leaders and support families is evident in every program they offer. The focus on leadership development, mentoring, and health education is not only impactful but essential in addressing social inequities. Since 1995, AOT has been dedicated to creating brighter futures, and their commitment shines through in the lives they touch. As a teen leader who has continued to come back to this wonderful program I highly recommend and hope that other teenagers decide to join and become a part of America on Track.
I enjoyed volunteering in this program, it helped me grow in leadership and it also let me help growing in participating more in school. I was a shy kid in school and didn't really spoke a lot, but after joining the program it help me to spoke up more in class and try to participate more. I also made new friends through that program volunteering together and I would highly recommend joining this program.
As a teen leader for America on Track, I was welcomed into a kind and warm community. Everyone treats each other with respect while still having fun and learning life lessons along the way. I was also given many opportunities to serve the community and help others; this organization is one of the best ones I have ever worked with.
I had the honor of being an intern at America On Track for 6 months. Throughout my internship I have grown because AOT has given me the opportunity to assist several events and given me hands on experience. All employees in the company have shown, great attitudes towards me and have assisted me when I had an issue or questions. It was a pleasure to have this amazing opportunity.
As a teen leader in America on Track's ELCE program was an experience I never thought I'd have, but am so grateful I did. I met new people and made new friends and I also learned the best way to work with kids in elementary schools. This program also provided many valuable lessons that I can and have applied to my own life.
I had the pleasure of interning at America On Track for 5 months and my experience has been wonderful. Everyone that I met at America On Track has been very welcoming and kind. I have enjoyed my time interning at AOT and have learned a lot about the nonprofit world. While I primarily assisted with the nutrition and tobacco programs, AOT has many different programs and resources that help strengthen the community. I was able to strengthen many skills such as public speaking and teamwork. I am very grateful for my time as an intern at America On Track.
I interned at America on Track for about four months. Everyone there was very welcoming, and they helped me learn so much about the nonprofit world. AOT has many different programs that I had the privilege of working on. All the programs worked towards bettering the community, and being a part of it and seeing how everything worked was very inspirational.
I interned here for about 5 months and I can definitely say it was a great experience. The AOT staff was so helpful and welcoming and if I could stay longer I would. I loved it here because they focused so much on helping the community in ways more than just nutrition and it's something that I personally love about them!
I enjoyed being a part of this experience because of the many relationships I have built in order to raise awareness for this nonprofit. My passion to help many vulnerable children and families encouraged me to be more involved. If I had the chance, I would come back and be apart of this nonprofit's mission and continue to help these families all of Orange County.
I have learned new skills in almost a year thanks to this program. I have learned to communicate with my mentee and parents. This program has taught me that helping the most needed and helping our youth move into a positive path in life is what our future generations need. Our children are the future.
Applied to work with a child whose parent has been incarcerated. Was matched with a girl from Santa Ana. It was such a treat and honor to be her mentor in person for a short while until COVID hit. We had to change our tactics and learned to spend time by phone or zoom. It has been a joy to watch her become a self assured young lady enjoying life as a freshman in high school. She has become very outgoing and wants to be involved in so many activities at school. Her grades are a priority with her and the activities require her to do well in her academics to stay involved. She is maturing into a responsible and caring young lady. It has been a joy to be her mentor.
America on track has been holding free nutrition classes at the Madison park community garden in Santa Ana. Through their commitment of providing a healthy community they have helped restore the Madison park Community garden. They establish a great volunteer group that has consistently showed up to keep the garden looking great. Jerry is a good leader that cares about the community and help the city of Santa Ana keep providing these type of services about the city.
My experience here volunteering at America on Track has been amazing! I love that everyone here is so passionate about the things AOT represents and how dedicated it is to serving the community. I interned/volunteered for AOT this summer and it has been amazing to see what the people here do. Everyone really believed in what they were doing and hoped to inspire and bring change. Thank you AOT for all that you have shown me and the many important skills that I have been taught!

I'm a high school student who currently volunteers as a teen leader in America on Track's Emerging Leaders Program, and I have to say that it was the best choice I could ever make. The staff is so nice and it is a pleasure being able to interact with them on a weekly basis. This organization exceeded my expectations and has helped me develop as both a leader and a team member. I have grown tremendously in both leadership and confidence ever since I participated in this organization. If there were more than five stars, I would give it a hundred.
As an intern at America On Track, I had a fantastic experience. Everyone was incredibly diligent and focused on helping benefit kids through their programs, and even on very busy days, their care and love for what they do shined through. I would recommend to anyone that is considering contributing to a non profit to work with America On Track.
I originally joined this nonprofit to collect community service hours. After many meetings and events I really began to understand their message. I now spread their message all around because of how impactful it was to me and hope it could be the same to others. Thank you
I interned for America On Track as part of my public health track. I gained valuable knowledge that I would not have gained from a classroom setting. America On Track was an experience I will never forget they helped me step out of my comfort zone and let me be part of their team who strives for change in our communities. I want to thank all the staff for all your patience and for letting me be a part of this awesome organization. Thank you America On Track!
I interned for America On Track and learned a lot of valuable information on public health prevention plans regarding nutrition, tobacco, and other outreach programs. As someone who worked firsthand with this program, they create a lot of outreach activities that help better the health and well-being of individuals residing in the Orange County area.
America on Track está haciendo un excelente trabajo para disminuir el uso del tabaco así tendremos un ambiente libre de humo y libre de tantas enfermedades yo felicito a Ana,y Alejandra, y Mrs Claire por el excelente trabajo que están haciendo.
I joined America On Track three years ago. Since then I’ve grown so much as a person through their leadership and youth programs. Its been an amazing experience getting to know people in our community and other youth that share the same passion for change.
I had a decently nice time helping out to mentor elementary school students. It was interesting to listen to various educational powerpoint presentations. Although in general these sessions were enjoyable and a good way for me to keep active and healthy, there were times when various other mentors seemed to not be doing their jobs efficiently as a minority only contributed minimal efforts (e.g. stalling for time in the bathrooms during outdoor activities).
There are so many events and activities for people of all ages. Education about Tabacco and nicotine, and best of all its fun and you get community service hours if you're a student
AOT has been an ongoing part of our campus for several years. This group works to reduce the number of teens using tobacco and tobacco products. AOT partners with us during Red Ribbon Week, and throughout the year to share their anti-tobacco, anti-vape message. Before COVID restrictions, we would have AOT representatives on campus for lunchtime activities and presentations in classrooms. Luckily for us, the group made the transition to virtual presentations to continue spreading the word to our students. I look forward to having the group back on campus in the future.
I have been involved with many charities throughout the years, but America On Track has been my favorite! The ability to interact with your mentee on a constant basis is so much more valuable than typical volunteer work, where you may be adding value behind the scenes. This is so much more enriching for both the Mentors and the Mentees! I have had the wonderful experience of watching Albino grow from a shy 12 year old boy, into a confident young man.
Civic Center Barrio Housing is a non profit and we partnered with America on Track. All of our properties in Fullerton, Santa Ana and Chula Vista are smoke free projects. This has helped our families breath clean air. Our landscaper immediately noticed the property was not filled cigarette buds.
I recommend all multi family housing communities to adopt the smoke free policy. It is the best thing that you can do for your families, their visitors and vendors who frequent your property.
America On Track’s Emerging Leaders for Civic Engagement program is truly awesome. I have been in the program for 8 years and I cannot believe how much it has helped me transform my life and help prepare me for college. I have learned so many skills that will help me in my personal life and career. Because of Terry and Claire, I believe I will be successful in all my endeavors and I will be a lifelong volunteer. Thank you America On Track!
First, I would like to give a huge Thank You for the presentations today! The presentations were interactive and very informative. Our students really enjoyed them. I would like to schedule again next year if possible. The America On Track organization truly puts children and families first.

Being a teen mentor with America On Track has helped me grow as a person and a leader. I have seen mentees come to the program shy and reserved and leave confident and excited. It is not all talk either. Interacting with the mentees tests the teen leader's maturity and their skills they learned from the program. AOT also gives plenty of resources and opportunities for the mentors to be active in the community. Looking back on my experience with the program, I have never had a bad day in the program. Every lesson was engaging and very informative. America On Track helped develop the leadership skills that will benefit me for years to come.
I worked as a teen mentor with America On Track's Emerging Leaders program from 2014-2018. I can confidently say that every year I spent with AOT in this program not only refined my leadership abilities, but also gave me a greater understanding of how to better serve my community. Although I have engaged with many volunteer-based projects, the Emerging Leaders program is one that is most memorable. Based on my personal growth as well as the growth I witnessed in others, my time volunteering as a teen mentor is undoubtedly one of the most positive experiences in my life.
Kris Rankin and America on Track's nutrition lessons for my fourth grade class were very age appropriate and very well presented. The nutrition lessons provided by Kris were engaging and educational and helped the students and myself better understand what it means to have a well balanced diet and how important it is to our overall health. Kris was a great presenter and was very patient with the students as we are online full time. His management and calm demeanor kept the kids engaged and focused. Everything was very well organized and extremely beneficial to my class. I could not be happier with the job Kris and America on Track did. I am grateful for the opportunity to have had this valuable instruction for my students.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with America on Track. I worked with the Tobacco Prevention Program. During my time there I was able to understand the severities of smoking and see the positive change that America on Track strives to create in Orange County.
Absolutely amazing! The presentations and information provided were very clear and concise. We obtained great feedback from the parents who attended the classes. Parents were interested in future nutrition classes. The event ( Healthy Snack day) hosted was really fun, and provided the families an opportunity to engage. Overall, it was spectacular! All the parents enjoyed it very much!
Mi Voto es por America on Track eyos ayudan a disminuir el humo de segunda mano que tanto daño le hase a las personas y el medio ambiente Alejandra y Ana muy buenas trabajadoras siempre haciendo lo mejor.
AOT has helped our So Cal schools in the fight against the youth vaping epidemic by being supportive mentors and challenging our students to think for themselves and make the smart choice to NOT use tobacco/cigarettes/e-cigs/vapes. What an amazing organization this truly is!
I was an intern for AOT for about 3 months and thoroughly enjoyed my time there working with PEP. The coordinators were wonderful, especially Randy. The kids love him as their teacher and he does a fantastic job educating the students.

I had my internship with America On Track for the last ten weeks. It was an amazing and humbling experience to work with children and adolescents around Orange County. I have learned a lot about health and wellness in the past 10 weeks and will definitely miss the friends I have made at this organization.
America On Track has always been very dedicated to providing children the support they need in difficult situations. Their staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They are truly a 5-star nonprofit.
I had the privilege of interning at America on Track a year back as a public health student and found it to be such a rewarding experience. This non-profit does amazing work in the community of Santa Ana and they do it with with immense compassion and leadership. While I only worked as a part of the nutrition program, I was also able to see first-hand all of the hard work and dedication that goes into AOT's other programs/community outreach, in both health education as well their youth mentorship program, which not only creates impactful, but also meaningful changes in the lives of those involved. I am thankful for such an experience!

America On Track has been working with over 130 parents across 4 neighborhoods and 13 schools in the Santa Ana Unified School District. They have given educational trainings and workshops around nutrition, the importance of active play, and tobacco and alcohol prevention.
Their staff has been working with a collaborative focusing on early education and they have help built the leadership capacity of those same parents. America On Track staff has also provided Santa Ana schools with nutritional tools at 13 school sites and have also canvassed the neighborhoods to promote healthy lifestyles.
Diana and her crew have volunteered at our food pantry since the beginning of the pandemic. I honestly don't know what we would do without her and her team. I am always energized and humbled by her. She loves the community and she's so sincere and kind to all of the families who come by to pick up food at our distribution. She is a leader with a servants heart. So grateful for her!
I took part in the Emerging Leaders Program by America On Track as a mentor from 2019 to 2020. I had the honor of mentoring young children and learning about nutrition, health, the environment, leadership skills and teamwork skills. I met such amazing children and adults, and we were even given gifts before we went on the Winter break. My public-speaking skills, presenting skills, and CV-making skills have improved drastically and I made many new friends. America On Track awarded scholarship money, gift cards and a certificate at the end of the year. America On Track even wrote a college reference for me that I used as part of my college and scholarship applications (I just started my freshman year at New York University on scholarship!). They also persevered and gave us online Zoom sessions when the Covid-19 pandemic happened. It was all just an amazing experience. Don't waste this opportunity.
America on Track has offered us many resources and assistance for our students, they are always so professional and a joy to work with. They have a hand in helping our students and school achieve success in making us a smoke free campus.
America On Track has worked with our school for the past three years and everyone with whom we worked added value to our school and our community! Every week, "Mr. Randy" came and taught a specialized physical education class, focused on fitness and wellness. He was professional and "fun"...even the junior high students looked forward to his classes.
America On Track also assisted at several family events, providing healthy alternative drinks and snacks at our school's annual Jog-A-Thon and at several family evenings.
The staff of America On Track was always pleasant and very respectful of our time. They understood the importance of safety and treated our students with respect. Every school should be luck enough to include America On Track in their program. We are grateful for all they did for our students and our staff.
I just finished working as an intern here. It was an amazing experience! The staff are professional, generous and helpful. Woking directly with children and seeing them enjoy themselves through the services provided by America On Track was something to cherish. They have provided me with an invaluable experience that I will surely build off for my future.
I was recently an intern with America on Track's nutrition program this past Fall. The staff here is super friendly and professional. As an undergraduate currently studying public health, this was certainly a great learning experience that really allowed me to see the value in community education and outreach. This organization does amazing work, and it was truly a pleasurable experience working with them!
Over 508 students participated in our America On Track Nutrition Classes. The classes were interesting and the students and staff enjoyed the program. Not only was it a wonderful health education program, it also promoted parent involvement. Our parents volunteered each day and enjoyed being able to help.
Thank You America On Track.
Mr.Kris visited our summer feeding program. He did a great job educated the student about how important Nutrition we eat everyday. Students even enjoyed healthy snacks and myself tried some of the snack was really good. Thank you America on Track and especially Mr.Kris for all his hard work..

Kris Rankin is great! He has done a couple of classes with our teens at The Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park. When I say they love him, I mean it! They are always asking me when he is coming back. I need to start writing all his recipes down because they love his snacks. They rave about how amazing his snacks are and how surprised they are that something that good is healthy. He has not only taught our teens a lot, he has taught many of our parents a couple of things . He stopped by a couple times this summer and talked to our parents on the way out and they are just as amazed has our teens. We will be definitely be continuing this partnership.
Kris, from America on Track is an exemplary health educator. Titans ASES Students at Whitaker Elementary in Buena Park received him well and were always excited to see him on his visiting days. Many students were skeptical to try the healthy treats he provided for them, but his encouraging words brought them around. Kris manages classrooms in a polite, but assertive manner. "Mr. Kris", as the students call him, is a complete professional and I highly recommend him at any school.
I loved having these Nutrition Classes in my community! Kris Rankin did a great job working with my kiddos. He kept them engaged and worked well with the students who need a little extra attention. Throughout the planning process, Kris kept me informed and responded to emails/questions quickly. My kids and I learned a lot of valuable information. I am excited to take this knowledge and apply it in my program!
THANK YOU America On Track for all your hard work, reaching out to parents and providing classes, resources and support at my summer READ WITH ME park reading program at Bellis Park in Buena Park. About 100 kids with their parents come to the park each Wednesday during the summer to READ WITH ME, check out books from the Buena Park library, enjoy a healthy snack from Giving Children Hope and pizza from Premier Chevrolet. Diana has been VERY helpful in helping coordinate other volunteers to come to the park and share with the children, including OC Fire Authority and the OC Health Care Agency to talk to the children about fireworks, pool and bicycle safety. With so many parents joining us each week, I quickly realized the opportunity to help support parents also. America On Track readily agreed to support the parents however they could. So each week while I read with the children Kris and Berna spend time with the parents providing resources and parenting classes on the topics the parents are requesting such as nutrition, parenting skills, exercise and more! You are AWESOME, Diana, Kris and Berna! I appreciate you all so much! Hope to see you joining us next summer too! Mrs. M.
America On Track was so beneficial not only for the children in my summer program but all throughout the Buena Park community of which they served. Kris Rankin did an amazing job educating the students on proper nutrition and the importance of a healthy diet. I definitely recommend this organization and this specific health educator, Kris. My students loved their nutrition classes. Thank you America On attack!
My internship experience at America On Track was very humbling. I got to work alongside each department to see how much work they put in to give children hope for their future. The staff welcomed me with open arms and guided me through the many questions I had in understanding the different aspects of a non-profit. I am grateful to have spent four months interning at America on Track and for the staff who supported my goals along the way.
I had the amazing experience of interning at America on Track for 10 weeks through the UCI Practicum website. It was an eye opening experience working with children and adolescents throughout Santa Ana and Irvine. I learned a lot and loved how hands on my work was. The staff were all phenomenal and aided in guiding me through the different programs and the types of work they do.
Kris Rankin is an outstanding presenter. He was prepared, knew the material, and kept the students engaged in a non-threatening but demanding manner. Buena Terra students learned a lot from the nutrition classes he led.
The nutrition instructor, Kris was very well recieved by the students at the after school program (Titans ASES in Buena Park). The lessons were very engaging and I would definitely recommend America on Track.
Jasmine delivered great groups to our ladies at WISEPlace, her tips were so useful and she provided snacks and activities to keep the ladies involved!
I was an intern for Fall 2018 for American on Track - Emerging Leaders and it was a pleasant experience overall. The kids are great and staff is very kind; and the program I had the pleasure of helping out for was very enriching for the children. Overall great experience!
I had the pleasure of Interning with America On Track during fall of 2018. All of the employees that I worked with in the Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention program have a strong passion towards what they do. Through community intervention they are able to educate high risk populations on healthier eating and ways to become more active. The organization itself places a strong emphasis on giving back to the community through multiple programs they offer.
Hector, from America on Track provided two presentations to our parents about how to find inexpensive ways to eat healthy. The information given was clear, interesting and helpful.
He was very accommodating to our parents and made sure to answer all of their questions. The class was very interactive and his enthusiasm made the workshop fun and engaging. America on Track is lucky to have such passionate staff.
America On Track has been visiting us at the Buena Park Senior Activity Center and providing educational workshops as well as bringing samples to go along with our two food pantry programs. It has been an exceptional partnership as we have been able to provide our seniors with much needed resources. Since America On Track started visiting our site, our seniors have received additional information on how to live a healthy lifestyle as well as learned a few tips on how to save money when purchasing food at the grocery store. In all, we are happy to have America on Track visit our center and we look forward to continuing our partnership in providing our seniors with the best resources.
Interning at America on Track over the Summer was a rewarding experience that helped to show me how much work a non-profit can do to benefit the community. The staff I had the pleasure of working with were kind, helpful and truly enjoyed helping the communities they worked with move towards a healthier life. I feel America on Track has done great things for the community and will continue to for many years to come.
America on track has been doing a Amazing job for the Buena Park Community for Jamboree housing. Many residents from Park Landing apartments have expressed on how helpful America on track is and how they really enjoy these classes and want to continue having more. Kaylyn has done a wonderful job by providing very educational classes and yet very fun. Many residents really enjoy learning to eat healthier and knowing that America on track and Jamboree Housing is there to provide the best services for Park Landing Apartments.
Excited for these next couple months that America on track will be providing for our summer program with my students!
America on Track has been coming to our Preschool Program with their multi lesson nutrition series teaching the children about healthy nutrition and its benefits. The children have enjoyed the classes and the variety of ways the information has been presented. They especially enjoyed the fun physical and interactive activities Jazmine used to explain things to them. The children were never rush and always given an opportunity to participate. One child even commented to me "I like Jazmine because I'm shy and she is so patient with me. I like that." We have 3 back to back sessions and they have been so support by making themselves available to attend all 3 sessions and provide all the children of the center with the nutrition classes which I know can generally be very challenging for program such as there's to be able to do, but they make it work. The nutrition message America on Track teaches aligns with our center philosophy and we appreciate having the opportunity to have them here and also look forward to working with them in the future. Thank you, Lisa Site Supervisor Figueroa CDC
I am a Mother of three children and 4 grandchildren. For my personal improvement and good health, I am involved in two committees in the city I live in: Buena Park. Through these committees I have the opportunity to collaborate and volunteer with America On Track. They have given support based on nutrition, rethink your drink, and how to read a label. The guidance on these topics has changed my family’s eating habits, allowing us to lose weight. It is surprising that a good motivation can make a positive change based off food, mental, and physical instruction. I thank the optimism of all the people who collaborate in this wonderful center. America On Track, keep promoting good health.
I enjoyed my time Interning in the office at America on Track. Everyone on the staff is super nice, professional, and positive. I got to do a lot of things for the tobacco programs that included created press releases, data entry, and even conducting surveys. I've learned the importance of raising community awareness while the time I was here and I hope my work will make a difference in the community.
America on Track came to my classroom to speak to my high school freshmen about the dangers of e-cigs and vapes. This was really interesting to my students because so many kids these days just dont understand the risk of experimenting with these devices. America on Track did a great job educating the students on the harmful and dangerous effects of this addiction.
I really liked how Kris kept the students engaged when he came in to present the nutrition class at our school. He was well prepped and knew what he was talking about. Nicely done.
This presentation got the students engaged. They know about it already and for them to participate as much as they did was good to see. The graphics got their attention since many of them only see the "glamorous" side of it and the "social" side of it. America on Track showed the reality of it. If you have not had them come to your site to present to students I highly recommend it. They adapted to my classes to repeat content as my students were required to take cornell notes during the presentation. Great to work with.
Kris did a great job with the students in his nutrition classes. The students enjoyed the healthy treats and they were always excited to come to his class. He knew what he was doing and he was able to deliver the information clearly. I did not get a chance to thank him personally, but I'm hoping this message gets to him. Thank you, Mr. Kris, from Raymond Temple. -Ms. Pascual
Mr. Kris visited our After School Program in Buena Park for five sessions as part of the nutrition course America On Track offers to the youth. The kids who attended were overall very attentive. They enthusiastically answered questions and asked plenty of questions too. Kids especially were happy to receive healthy snacks as part of the course. The models (e.g. muscle and fat) that Kris brought as demonstrations for how our body reacts to proper or improper nutrition were very useful in helping the kids visualize and retain the concepts. I think Mr. Kris was an excellent instructor. He really captured and held the kids' attention. I think his way of explaining the lessons were simple and clear, perfect for kids! Thank you Kris and America On Track for coming to teach the kids the importance of nutrition. The information was very valuable.
I absolutely love America on Track! I interned for this organization over the summer, and had such a wonderful experience. Every staff member was kind and extremely dedicated to their work. The organization has such a big impact on children's lives.
Interning for America On Track has affected my life in so many positive ways. Not only did I learn what it's like to work in a professional setting, but I got to work for a great cause surrounded by friendly and compassionate people. The mentorship program for children of prisoners is one of the several amazing programs that America On Track offers. This wonderful organization continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those in Orange County and I am so blessed to have been a part of the cause.
Here at FVHS we really appreciate being able to participate in the Tobacco Prevention Project presented and fully run by America on Track. Their whole team were professional and great with our students and staff. It is a worth while program we would recommend to other schools to participate in this no cost project that is good for kids.
My experience with America on Track has been incredible, the information provided during the nutrition classes have such a positive impact on people and motivates them to obtain a healthier eating lifestyle!
I love the idea that the students strive to improve their fitness. Nutrition is included. They are learning about vegetables and long term effects. (Principal comments)
Fourth grade says, "It's so much fun! We're getting more exercise. We work as a team. The teacher is really nice. "
In third grade, Rachel says, " I learned that vegetables can be delicious.' Collette said, " We are getting healthy by playing fun games." All of third grade chimed in, "I wish we had it every day!"
Our center had had representatives from America On Track teach our students in grades 1-6 about nutrition. Through the sessions the students learn about making healthier snack and food choices along with being able to taste test a variety of healthy snack options. The students get survey'd too and overall they really enjoy the classes.
WTLC works with survivors of domestic violence and exploitation. America on Track provides us with a service that is key. We see our role as creating program that changes the health of communities. The partnership has made this accessible. We provide emotional support and America on Track helps with the basic needs that change health outcomes. wouldn't be so far without their work.
America on Track is one of the best non profits. I am an Education and Economics major at Chapman University and have volunteered at many nonprofits and I still would say the aforementioned. As an intern for mainly the Mentoring for Children of Prisoners program, I was able to really see what goes behind the scenes. All the staff are so nice, energetic, and helpful. They stick to their goals and care about the quality of service they provide. For instance, for the end of year party, the staff put so much thought in the presents and activities for not only the mentors and mentees but also the siblings of the mentees. Additionally, they do stringent background checks to make sure that those who receive the service are given the best. Interning at this nonprofit allowed me to see that really a nonprofit should work with utmost care and respect. I am very grateful that I was able to help and be part of such an inspiring group.
I want America On Track and others to know how amazing it was to be a mentor. I really enjoyed my time with my mentee and am grateful programs like this exist to make communities come together and amicably advance. Thank you for this incredible experience.
The directors are passionate about these kids and want the best for them. That's what the future needs.
Dulce Arias delivered a great presentation to 3 of my junior classes at Westminster High School on Friday March 31st! She was very informative and engaging. My students learned about E-cigs, which is very relevant to their social circle and peer age group. I hope that the information Dulce shared will motivate my students to live a healthy and clean life!
Our Santa Ana community apartments had the great benefit of having Diane come out and give Nutrition classes to our residents. She was very professional, engaging, and knowledgeable. Her lessons were super fun and encouraged the residents to change their nutrition habits.
America on Track is a great organization dedicated to helping people improve their health through education. This is the 2nd year I have worked with them to help educate low income adults about their nutrition choices and how these choices can affect their health. Kris is an excellent presenter, he kept the clients engaged, brought informative hand outs and displays to give residents visual references about their bodies and health. Kris shared recipes with samples to show residents how they can prepare nutritious meals and snacks on a budget. The America on Track presentations have encouraged residents to eat healthier, try new things and make a more conscious effort in caring for their health. I look forward to bringing them back next year to present.
America on track has been a great addition to the programs at our facility. We have collaborated with this agency for the past few years and our families LOVE IT! The educational components along with the easy to understand recipes are always a hit! Considering we are one of the cities with the highest obesity rate in Orange County, I believe it is imperative that we assist the families by offering these types of classes. Diana is also great with the kids to the point that she knows most of them by name. We always look forward to hosting these wonderful programs at our facility and I believe America On Track is leading the way for our future by teaching them the basics of nutrition and giving them the hands on training to try these recipes with their families.
Kris and Diana were beyond exceptional with our class and teaching our students about nutrition. The students loved them and the foods they brought. We hope to see you next year!
We had Kris come in to do a series of nutritional classes for our students. He did a great job engaging with our students, and continuously changed the beat of his lectures to keep the kids interested. We also loved the food that he presented; like most kids, our students are averse to veggies, but Kris was able to make the food more appetizing. These classes were truly informative, and it was our pleasure to have Kris at our site.
I work with low income residents in Brea, CA. We had Kris come out and give Nutrition classes to the after school program youth. He was very professional, engaging, and knowledgeable on the subject. He kept the lessons fun for the kids and encouraged them to try the healthy food/snacks he provided for them. The students learned a lot and would talk about the lessons with me after he had left. His visuals and facts were critical to the kids' learning. He never made any of the kids feel bad for having a wrong answer, rather he talked it out with them until they arrived at a right answer by themselves. I would enthusiastically recommend America On Track (and especially Kris) to any programs looking to host Nutrition Classes.
I have been a mentor at America On Track for the past year. Becoming a mentor at America On Track is one of the best decisions I have ever made!!! I look forward to meeting with my mentee every week. All together it has been such a rewarding experience. It's also great to know that I have a strong team of people at America On Track that are willing to help should the need arise. My favorite part about America On Track is that it offers parents education on nutrition. America On Track also encourages children to read by giving them free books that are age and reading level appropriate.
We here at the Villa appreciate Diane, our nutritionist for so many reasons. She provides us with nutritional facts such as label reading on food packaging. She explains to us exactly what each section means and the recommended serving size.
Diane also provides us with tips on grocery shopping. She has informed us on how to shop on a budget and how to double check the receipts after purchasing to ensure we have paid the correct amount.
She gives us valuable tips on how to deal with young children while shopping at the grocery store. As we all know, children tend to want everything when shopping. She has given us ideas and suggestions on ways to distract children while shopping to avoid over buying on needless items.
Overall, Diane has taught us how to maintain healthy lives through our eating habits, and she has taught us how to manage our grocery purchases on a budget.
We truly appreciate all the information she has provided to us. We would like to thank Diane for helping the ladies here at the Villa learn the value of nutrition and we would also like to thank her for the delicious salads she brings to us every week. Diane's efforts are much appreciated.
Sincerely, The Women at The Villa
I have been a volunteer for America On Track’s Brighter Futures for Children of Prisoners Program for the past 4 years in which I mentor a beautiful little girl once a week for two hours.
This is a very structured program where the results are very rewarding not only for the mentees and their families but for the mentors as well. Aside from the guidance that the mentors receive from the cofounders of the organization, Terry and Claire, as well as the staff of the organization the many advantages that come from the program are: Special outings such as free tickets to events at the Honda Center, letters of recommendation for the mentors, a Holiday Party where mentees receive Christmas gifts and mentors get awards and recognition for their volunteer hours, STEM activities, free books for the mentees, free mini-golf tickets, a really fun summer educational camp where I got the chance to be a counselor this past summer and free health seminars for the families.
Being a part of this organization has taught me a great deal of things. Although challenging at times, being with my mentee has been a wonderful experience that I would not change for anything. Additionally, the support that I have received from Terry and Claire have made me push myself into becoming not only a better mentor but a well rounded person thanks to the various conversations we’ve had at the different events. It is clear that they personally care about each and every one of us involved in this wonderful program.
I have been a mentor with America On Track for 10 years. I stick with this organization because I see the positive impact it has on the children it is helping. Moreover, I notice something very special about its founders, Terry and Claire: they remember the names of all the children (as much as I can observe while attending the events they organize). My mentee has 6 other siblings, and Terry and Claire remember their names, even the ones who are too young to be in a mentoring program. This is one of the clear indications that these two wonderful ladies care about the children they are helping. When people care, good things happen, and lives are changed for the better.
America on Track is awesome! I did not have to wait too long to be paired up with a mentee. They are great at being accessible for both the mentors and mentees. I could have not found a better non-pofit.
I just started volunteering with America on Track this year, and I've loved every minute of it! It's a wonderful way to create fundamental relationships with others, learn about successful ways to manage life and blossom into a great leader. I have no doubt that America On Track is doing very good things for the community and will continue to do so for many years to come.
This is the most wonderful non-profit!
I have spent three years as a mentor in America On Track's Emerging Leaders Program and have loved all of them. I have seen this non-profit change the lives of youth for the better, and think it deserves support.
I have been a volunteer with America on Track for a few months now and am really enjoying getting to know my mentee.
Terry and Melody have been wonderful in the training process and introducing me to my mentee.
I would highly recommend
America on Track for anyone that wants to reach out and help others!
Volunteering as an America On Track mentor to the child of a prisoner brings me great joy. Watching my mentee blossom from a smart, but shy girl into a more confident young woman who eagerly participates in new experiences, initiates conversations and shares her interests is truly heartwarming. In addition, searching for opportunities that will encourage my mentee's interest in science and literature and expand her horizons has ultimately expanded my own horizons. Through it all, America On Track is there to help - providing incredible support for mentors with comprehensive training, free group outings, an amazing holiday party (where many mentees receive their only gifts of the season), free books and a knowledgeable and caring staff. Thank you, Terry and Claire. Brighter Futures for Children of Prisoners sets a high standard for mentoring programs and brightens the lives of mentors as well as mentees.
Great, unselfish foundation! I was matched with a mentee in June 2015 and have loved every moment of it. Thanks to America on track for providing me an opportunity to impacts lives!
I have been with America On Track for 4 years and each year, I have always come out as a new person with more developed and skilled leadership qualities. Within the Emerging leaders program, one of America On Track's many amazing programs, High school students like me are paired with their elementary student counterparts under a supervised setting and are put through a year long journey to become better leaders through academic lessons and physical fitness activities. As I prepare for college, I can proudly recognize my time spent with America On Track as my most proud and valuable extra curricular activity. All in all, America On Track and its founders, Terry and Claire, will continue to inspire me throughout my college years and distant future. I will always be grateful for everything they've provided me with and the kind of individual they transformed me into.
I started volunteering with America On Track years ago. There are few pursuits in my life that have left such a feeling of inspiration and gratitude. This organization has created an extended family for hundreds of children, who's lives have been impacted by mentors and friends that love them, believe in them in ways they deserve.
