My daughter was born with a heart defect at Medical City in Dallas. My cardiologist recommended I talk to people with Amazing Little Hearts. Everybody on the board and all members have a child with a heart defect so they could understand exactly what I was going through. Seeing all of the kiddos with heart defects growing up and running around brought me so much hope. When my daughter got a little older I wanted to know how I could give back to this "heart" community and joined the board. Every year we look for and implement new ways to support these families while they are in the hospital and at home. Every child that has heart surgery gets a soft blanket and their family receives a huge care bag of useful items for their hospital stay. ALH provides a snack cart for patients/families, monthly support meetings, holiday parties, and holiday meals at the hospital. We also work very hard to raise awareness of the #1 birth defect which affects about 1% of the babies born in the US.
