Mission: Amar's purpose is to relieve poverty, distress, or suffering by providing medical, rehabilitative, financial, public health, or educational assistance to individuals or communities in any part of the world, in particular, victims of war, civil disturbance, natural disaster, or breaches of human rights.
Programs: Since 2012 amar has implemented the support, training, outreach, and publicity to combat gender based violence in iraq (stop-gbv). The project is intended to provide direct education and training for thousands of iraqis, with a holistic approach on a national scale in order to diminish gender based violence and lifting personal horizons for iraqi women. Stop-gbv focuses on 4 components: support through 8 stop-gbv centers providing legal and social support to gbv victims; training iraqi police, community police and local ngos with specialist workshop; outreach via rights awareness and violence prevention (rvp) workshops; and publicity through radio, print media, and online.
in september 2013 amar u. S. Began the advocacy, implementation and response to stop gender based violence in iraq (airtime to stop-gbv) program. Building on amar's existing rights program, airtime promotes gender equality and protection throughout iraq through national campaigns on tv, radio, print and online, cultural events at the community level and gender sensitization training for hundreds of critical responders and government employees.
