Mission: The Alzheimer's Association-Greater Austin Chapter is dedicated to providing leadership to enhance care and support services for individuals and their families while supporting the advancement of research to eliminate Alzheimer's disease.
Programs: Public awareness/education - a variety of seminars, classes, and training sessions are available throughout the chapter territory, including introduction to alzheimer's classes and issue-specific care giving seminars. Through the alzheimer's disease education program (adep), caregivers and professionals can learn practical techniques to make alzheimer's care giving a rewarding experience for the patient and the caregiver. Adep has seen tremendous growth and continues to reach more and more members of the community. Support groups are also a vital part of the association's support network. The association has a helpline which is an invaluable resource to caregivers dealing with every stage of the disease.
advocacy efforts enable interested parties to take positive action and voice their opinions on alzheimer's research, funding and care services at the state and national levels.
