Mission: Always Home was founded in 1998 to address the needs of Eastern Connecticut's homeless, imminently homeless and at-risk families. Our mission is Preventing Family Homelessness. As the region's leading service provider focused exclusively on serving families with minor children, we offer case management support and access to the emergency services families need to establish housing stability. We seek to prevent homelessness before it happens and to use shelter as a destination of last resort. Our core programs include Homelessness Prevention, Shelter Diversion and Enhanced Homelessness Prevention services to improve housing security and family well-being. We regularly use a data-driven approach and apply demonstrated best practices so that we can effectively and efficiently direct critical resources necessary for families to resolve their housing crisis.
Results: Always Home is committed to providing critical case management services and housing stabilization assistance, when needed, to low-income Eastern Connecticut families who are experiencing a housing crisis and are in need of support to avoid eviction and homelessness. We strive to: • Problem-solve with families to find solutions to their housing crisis; • Reduce the number of families being evicted or spending time in the stressful state of emergency shelter or homelessness; and • Give families opportunities to build housing stability and resiliency. In Fiscal Year 2023 (July 1, 2022- June 30, 2023), Always Home served 321 families in housing crisis (1,045 family members including 640 minor children). By focusing on proven and proactive Homelessness Prevention and Shelter Diversion strategies, 100% of families served successfully resolved their housing crisis.
