Programs: Alpha home, founded in 1966 by members of trinity baptist church, provides spiritually based substance abuse treatment and support to women and their families to prepare them to become more productive members of society. Treatment is delivered via two core programs: the residential and the outpatient substance abuse treatment programs with a full continuum of services at three locations. The intensive residential program requires a minimum of 20 hours per week of treatment services for approximately 30 days. Clients live on site while being closely supervised. The supportive residential program requires at least ten hours per week of treatment services for up to 60 days. Clients live on site and work, volunteer, or attend school off-premises during the day. Evenings are dedicated to treatment activities at the residence.
the supportive outpatient program is designed for clients who are in need of treatment but who also have the skills and support to recover without the need for inpatient care. Clients do not live on site. This program offers flexibility of working with client schedules. Clients average five hours of treatment per week. Cliens receive confidential, highly individualized treatment, including medical and mental health assessments, individual and group counseling, addiction and recovery education, family counseling, trauma counseling, anger management, ged instruction, 12-step support, career counseling, and relapse support. The majority of clients reside in bexar and surrounding counties.
pregnancy and post-partum intervention (ppi) program - the goal is to reduce the impact of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use on children and families. Adult and adolescent women residing in bexar, comal, and guadalupe counties who are either pregnant or have a child 18 months or younger are eligible. Ppi provides direct services to women through community outreach, education referrals, and case management, and focuses on pregnant and parenting women at risk of substance abuse and/or domestic violence. Risk factors to women include teen pregnancy, past or current involvement with the texas department of family and protective services of child protective services, current or past use/abuse of alcohol and drugs, past or current domestic violence, current or past mental health problems (especially depression), current or past history of sexual/emotional or physical abuse, insufficient or no prenatal care, and financial distress.
