Since beginning to work as a direct support professional at aucp I have learned so much! The work we do is rewarding in itself, getting paid is just a bonus. I've met so many amazing people through the program, and look forward for whats to come. Not only have i learned from the training they provide, I also learn alot about life from my clients! I love working for aucp.

My 58 year old brother who is lost in life and likes alcohol just a little to much has been on a downhill ride for the last couple years. His apartment was not clean, he was not clean, and he seemed to have lost the ambition to do much of anything. I contacted Lori from A.U.C.P. in Sept 2019 just looking for some answers and advice on his living conditions. Lori guided me through a process of what to do in order to maybe help him in some way. Not long after that conversation, A.U.C.P. was going to my brother's apartment for a couple hours a week. Now it is the end of Oct 2019 with the transformation in the way his apartment looks and his attitude has changed dramatically. I truly appreciate all A.U.C.P. has done for my brother and I know they have changed his world.

My name is Teresa Adams and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for Conemaugh Regional Hospice. Years ago, I had an idea of creating a 'Buba Box' for our Hospice Patients. The box would be named after my Grandmother, my Buba, and would be given out to those in need as she had always had a giving kind heart throughout her life. These boxes would contain much needed items that our Hospice Patients are unfortunately unable to shop for such as, lotion, tissues, pens, notebooks, books, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, etc. So in early September 2018, Tasha Adams, Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers Marketer, received a grant for this project. A.U.C.P. was able to purchase the items and the boxes as well. The Consumers of A.U.C.P. assembled the boxes along with adding their kindness and caring attention to each one. In November 2018, Conemaugh Regional Hospice picked up the boxes from A.U.C.P. and then distributed a box to each one of our Hospice Patients. The Patients were so excited and so deeply grateful to receive such a gift. Besides adding a note of caring in each box, the Consumers also added a small stuffed Teddy Bear. Upon opening the box, each Patient's first reaction was to hug their new bear! It was such a warm touching sight to witness. This was such a wonderful and rewarding co-joined project between Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers and Conemaugh Regional Hospice and I along with our Hospice Patients will always be eternally grateful for their role in this endeavor.

In the short time that I've been with the agency, I've been amazed by the passionate and dedicated people I have met. From day one, I've witnessed first-hand the incredible kindness and compassion possessed by the office and field staff. The effort that is put in to ensure that the consumers are cared for in the most efficient and lovingly manner possible is beyond words. This agency is constantly striving to be better than the previous day, which is evident in the strides made over the past few years. This is truly an incredible agency and I'm beyond thankful and proud to work alongside such wonderful individuals.

I became involved with this organization over three years ago. I respect the work that they do. They have a caring staff, even when the work is not so glamorous. Consumers' and employees' immediate needs are taken into consideration in the decision making while also planning for the future success of the Organization.

AUCP has made great organizational and management changes, within the past couple of year, now focusing more on quality of services and making sure employees are heard, respected, and appreciated.
Helping with their strategic plan has opened my eyes to the passion and dedication that exists within the entire organization and it is inspiring to work with a group who is so determined to change the way in which disabilities (and direct care professionals) are viewed by society.

I became involved with Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers in 2009 after referring a client to one of their programs and receiving outstanding feedback. Since then, I have served in various capacities on the boards of the organization and former affiliates, including terms as chair. I continue to be amazed by the people, and the extent to which they have bought into the organization's mission. Everyone involved truly cares about the consumer and it shows, not only in the quality of service provided, but also in the way they go the extra mile to brighten the lives of the people they care for.

It can be tough to pinpoint exactly what makes a great non-profit organization. My belief is its people, period. The staff of Unlimited Care project a commitment, passion, and dedication to people. They have an authentic belief in the mission-and the energy and optimism to make it succeed. Consistently, year after year Unlimited Care advances itself in areas of effectiveness, efficiencies, and innovation. They make big waves with limited resources and are unintimidated by the unique challenges of this sector. Unlimited Care is an ever-evolving organization that focuses on its operations, programs as it learns from each challenge. In short, they are a learning organization with passionate, caring employees.

Great place to work. They consider your days for shifts of availability and the more you work the more hours accumulate for vacation.

So, my phone was out of order and my electric was out due to a recent thunderstorm. The office staff could not reach me for over 3 hours. All of a sudden, an office staff (Scheduler) arrives wanting to know if everything was ok. This company goes above and beyond and really cares about people with disabilities. I have heard of a story when a workers car broke-down and they walked to the Consumers house to make sure they were ok and provided the care needed. Many people in my town don't understand what its like to live alone and have a disability and to be completely reliant on someone or a company to just eat and live. This company goes beyond just basic needs for me and cares about me. Even a supervisor called me to make sure I am doing ok and took time to talk to me.

I have been with Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers for over four years. They really care about me and when they can't provide coverage for me in the home, they always find a way to find me a back-up person. Their caregivers, office staff and supervisors are the friendliest I ever had. They try so hard to involve me in activities, but my disability is tough to get out, but they still try. I had other agencies, but this one I would like to keep as long as possible.
Thank you.

As a DCW I love it when my consumer and I can have a good laugh together. One of my favorite memories is a consumer telling me that she doesn’t like to laugh in front of one of her neighbors. She went on to tell me that sometimes she “snorts” when she laughs and the neighbor told her it was unbecoming and not ladylike. So one day my consumer and I was out for a walk, her neighbor just happened to be coming in our direction. I bent down and whispered in my consumer’s ear “don’t snort”. We both started laughing and we both “snorted” from laughing so hard! The neighbor just walked by as if she was appalled at our laughter! My consumer and I still love to laugh and “snort” every chance we get!

As a recent corporate sponsor of this organization and a long-term vendor of services, I can honestly state how this organization has matured within the past several years. Their value, impact and keen sense of how to create sustainable services truly is noteworthy. Every quarter I come to meet there is an energy like no other within the walls of this organization. The staff truly are inspired and work hard for one common goal. To provide the best possible service in an efficient and effective manner. I am sure it is just a matter of time before we see them expand beyond S. Western PA. Great Job!

The Agency goes above and beyond for their clients and they are making their way to being a vital part of the community. They have a passion for getting people together to help make a difference in peoples lives. They truly help individuals with disabilities live safely and stay as independent as they possibly can. They also have group homes with individuals who work in the community as well as go to day programs where they stay active and live a fulfilled life with staff that is more like family. AUCP gave me the wonderful opportunity to work in the activitities program as an intern. This experience was rewarding both professionally and personally. While all of the employees were invested in my education, they helped me learn about some managerial aspects of a nonprofit organization. Personally, I was welcomed with open arms by both clients and staff as a part of the AUCP family even though I could only be there for a short time. Everyone was truly dedicated to the mission and goals of the organization, and fully invested in the well-being of both the clients served and the employees. Great organization, and great people!

The positivity and growth that ALUCP brings to individuals within our community who are living with disabilities cannot be matched. Their caring staff, local fundraisers, and social outreach are all attributes that make ALUCP a nonprofit that I, personally, am proud to have donated to. Living in the Johnstown area, I have seen and spoke firsthand with the individuals who have benefitted from ALUCP's programs and services---and they have all spoke very highly about the healthcare, relationships, and genuine concern that ALUCP staff have given and shown to them. Understanding the specialized and ever-changing needs that the disabled community face is key in providing top-notch care to those individuals, and I truly believe ALUCP has done just that.

I have viewed this organization mature and grow (over the past two years) from a community perspective. This organization has emerged into one of the most innovative and worthwhile nonprofits within the region! Their contributions to our community are very impressive and they operate very quietly and without fan-fare.
Their staff seem to be totally engaged and care for the community and one another. Can't wait to see what they do next!

I worked for a couple of different personal care agency's I also worked for Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers. I just wanted to say,, this company has gone above and beyond for not only their employees, but they make the consumers number one. I've never seen another agency do so Much. There are so many people that would not see any thing other than the inside of their homes. I have witnessed the things AUCP has done to help people live life to the fullest and seen the smiles they put on their faces. I've seen every single person, even the CEO take the time to make these consumers feel like they matter. Thank you AUCP not only for giving me the opportunity to be part of your family. But for everyone that you help live a life that alone they may not be able to.

AUCP has been serving my mother for several years. It is a well rounded company. They answer all of my questions. The aids are a huge part of our life now we wouldn't be able to do the things we do without there team of direct care workers and the staff. I am so thankful for this agency and everything they do for my mother.

I first started with the agency in 1980 as a residential program worker. When the Homemaker Program was first introduced, I was the first test subject to go into the community to assist people with special needs in their own homes. I left the agency in 1988 due to starting a family. I went back to school and worked a few other jobs. Then after a divorce and my youngest was in school. I applied to UCP as a direct care worker. I now work in the office but I am able to appreciate what our Direct Care Workers mean to us and to the consumers that they help to be independent and have active roles in the community.

I was hired at AUCP in August 2016. My precious job had a history of an unhealthy work environment. Sometimes it was even frightening. AUCP made me feel so welcome and I think I can say I fit in well with the people I work with. Long story short, my father passed away suddenly and then my grandmother following my father. I was in a dark place and had to take work off for the funerals. I was still in my trial period. My supervisors were so helpful to make sure my family and I had what I needed. And my coworkers stepped up to help cover my shifts since I couldn't be there. AUCP has many people who genuinely care about each other. I definitely felt the love during my time of need.

I stayed casual at my previous job to make some extra cash. Well I was targeted there by a disgruntled coworker. I was put in a very unsafe situation. The team at AUCP made sure that I was never to be leaving at night by myself and to make sure that I was always safe.

I couldn't be more proud to work for such a great company. AUCP cares for their consumers and their employees.

AUCP is a wonderful company. I have been part of the agency in some form or another for the past seven years; the people that they serve and the things that they do really can change who you are as a person. The office staff truly cares; it really isn’t just a job for them. The Direct Care Staff are top notch, have a true commitment to their clients as well as provide the best quality of care. The clients are amazing and can be truly inspirational when you are trying to get through your day. Each person that is involved with AUCP in some way or another has really changed how I personally look at life. “We are so often caught up in our daily destinations that we forget to appreciate the day’s journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling, don’t overlook it.”-unknown author

They also have Activity Day that I love going to! We do all kind of different things. We also have field trips, for example, we have been to ......Summer Smiles Honey farm, Fishing, (that's a favorite) Best of Friends Horse Farm, Horse Shoe Curve, etc, etc. It's amazing what they have done for me. I worked with this company for a few years as a direct care worker and now in in office staff. The opportunities this job has to offer is incredible. The people I have met out on the field have changed me and molded me into the worker I am today. The office staff treats me like family and welcomed me to the team with open arms. Being behind the scenes now shows me how much care and respect each and every office employee has for the direct care workers.
