Well started attending AA Meetings at the yellow house on cypress creek road a few years back. I am no rocket scientist but come from family where my father who also had a issue with a drinking problem which killed him when I was 15. Guess I wasn't aware that there is a new AA. See back when I started going to meetings years ago if you brought a pen and apaper into a meeting you were asked not to because what you hear. stays here. And it was also mentioned that there is no talk of drugs of any kind. Now the group has changed the way Bill and BOB Came up with with this program. It's not about recovery at the hope group anymore it's if you don't act like they want you to or take the program then no matter .Sorry thought it was a program of recovery not a program of other people to run there lives. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A MEETING WHERE THEY STICK TO THE PROGRAM OF AA. some of us me didn't no that the hope gruop could set the rules to be able to control you not be a sponser GUESS it's a program do what we want you to do and that's it. Just like technology plenty of brains but no common sense.

I wish I was providing a more positive experience. Question? What is important to AA members who have multiple years of sobriety? I recently had my 6th year of sobriety. I only celebrated my 2nd and wanted to celebrate my 6th birthday. My 6th year birthday was very special to me to me, the most important one for some reason. Two days before B-day night I had a death in the family. I was informed by a fellow member not to worry just pick up my 6th year chip when I returned. When I returned 2 days later Tim another AA member said sorry you will have to wait until next month, I asked Tim about the chip that should already be here for me. I was basically on my knees at this point. What a slap in the face since my name had been on the white board for the month of September. I guess if you have 20 something of sobriety like Tim does we small folks mean nothing. I am an alcoholic not a drug addict. I have never taken a drug in my life. The night of my 6th Birthday I found a NA meeting in South East Austin at 11:30am, not smart but they got me a chip and a link so I could order a 6 yr AA chip. I enjoyed the nice folks I met at Hope. Good luck to you. I will be attending another group moving forward.
