This AA group is NOT setup to help people, as most AA groups are. It appears the only reason they exist is to shelter income and avoid taxes. Their latest income tax return filed with the IRS was for 2011. It reflected almost $300,000 in assets, including over $127,000 in CASH! What AA group has THAT much cash sitting around?
The IRS revoked their status as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2012. They haven't filed a form 990 or 990ez (income tax return) with the IRS since 2011. I'm not sure if they reorganized under a different name or are using some other method to avoid reporting income and dodge paying taxes.
Nationally, AA is a great organization. Most local chapters are as well. The unethical actions of the directors of the Gainesville, TX chapter of AA, Alcoholics Anonymous Anchor Club of Gainesville, do not involve the national AA organization, or any other chapter of AA that I am aware of.
