Programs: Community services provides multiple services to the community. First steps assures that all indiana families in our 25 county service area with infants and toddlers 0 to 36 months experiencing developmental delays or disabilities have access to early intervention services close to home when they need them. 3,875 children received services. Foster grandparents program mentored and tutored 1,122 at risk students in five counties. Two-thirds of the students whom they mentored and tutored significantly improved in at least two teacher-identified academic areas during the school year. 66 foster grandparents have volunteered over 47,533 hours to date. Bartholomew county medication assistance, a collaborative community program developed under the healthy communities initiative, was moved to volunteers in medicine during the 1st quarter of the year.
in-home services provides a variety of services for older americans. Older americans act programs help to plan, develop, and coordinate a comprehensive, coordinated system of service delivery for older adults who allow them to remain in their homes and communities for as long as they desire or are physically able. The agency provides direct services to older americans throughout the five county area served by this program. The agency provides attendant care, homemaker services, home health aide, meals, and emergency response for the elderly. 1,005 individuals received home and community-based services.
the senior nutrition program is designed for wellness, fellowship, exercise, nutrition, and more. It is a program designed to offer a nutritionally balanced meal daily for people over age 60 and their spouses. There are 9 congregate meal sites throughout 5 counties where people meet, socialize, and make new friends. The program coordinates with local senior and community centers to furnish a broad range of educational, recreational, and support services for those who are unable to come to a meal site, the nutrition program provides homebound meals. Care managers assess eligibility for subsidized meals. The senior nutrition program served more than 53,821 meals and hot lunches through congregate and homebound services.
