Hello, I prefer to stay anonymous but I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when I was a child, up until recently i haven't had any health issues. But, I was really sick a couple of years ago and about a year ago I started riding and volunteering at Agape Acres. Since I started going there I have been shown nothing but kindness and genuine concern for my health as well as other aspects of my life. I have since then come in contact with many great people who volunteer there as well and I have heard stories about how they started off there as well. All the volunteers and riders are different in each way but when you are there, you are treated with kindness and care. Since i have been riding my health had made a slow but steady increase in the right direction. Agape Acres no only is therapeutic for people but animals as well. As a volunteer there I see the way the horses are cared for and i help care for them as well. I can proudly say that I have never seen so much love and dedication go into caring for these animals. Agape Acres has features that care for a variety of people for example they have textured reins to give children with a sensitive sense of touch comfort.
I started riding at Agape Acres over a year ago for my PTSD. Janie & Brian Nelson are amazing & caring people who love what they do! The animals are wonderful & so are all the volunteers.
Shadow, the horse I usually ride has helped me so much without even knowing it. He is such a sweetheart & I love him . I can never thank Agape Acres enough for helping me thru my darkest time in life. It’s such an uplifting feeling to ride these big beautiful creatures who are so very gentle!
Sincerely, Doretta Alessi
