Mission: Our mission is to unlock the heart of the city with the love of Christ, through the Arts.
Results: AGAP has been able to register an expanding number of students who are enrolled in Elementary and Middle schools in the surrounding community in our after-school program. We have spent time this year researching ways in which we can expand the number of students and schools involved in AGAP, the number of days in which our sessions are held, and the kinds of artistic disciplines we offer instruction in.
Target demographics: The city's underserved youth--with emphasis on those in the Benning Heights community-- who can benefit from an after-school educational program that uses the arts to teach and uphold worthy values; personal growth and responsibility; creative expression; talent enhancement; community service; life skills; social maturation, and peaceful mediation through artistic expression as a viable and committed way of life. Our short-term goals are to further develop our current program at First Rock Baptist Church in the Benning Heights neighborhood with expanded curriculum offerings, staff, and volunteers; to grow our base of partners (in prayer and funding); to increase communication with our partners; and to launch AGAP at additional sites in Washington, DC.
Direct beneficiaries per year: School-aged (6-14) children of Benning Heights community and those similary-aged youth of the surrounding school communities.
Programs: Art (drawing and painting), Drums, Drama, Dance, Voice, Photography
