Mission: The organization provides mentoring, life skills and job training to at risk youth to help empower them to become productive members in our community.
Programs: Nina mason pulliam charitable trust the organization partnered with ivy tech state college to provide a 10 week culinary job training program for youth ages 16-24 who are involved with the juvenile justice and/or foster care systems. Graduates receive certificates and are eligible for college credit. Twenty-one economically disadvantaged youth completed the program with the following outcomes: 1. 100% demonstrated an increase in knowledge of nutrition and healthy cooking. 2. 75% of the students were enrolled in school and/or obtained employment within 30 days of completion. 3. 100% received their cpr/first aid certificate. 4. 50% of students who took the servsafe passed. 5. 100% of the students completed a career plan. 6. No students became involved with the juvenile justice system or were re-incarcerated while participating in the program. 7. Two students who were on probation at the start of the program had their probation successfully terminated. 8. 100% of students completed a community service project.
marion county crime prevention the organization partnered with the marion county crime prevention to provide mentoring, life skills training, and day reporting. Marion county crime prevention grant this program served 35 youth who were incarcerated in the indiana division of youth services. The youth received mentoring and reentry support services beginning in the juvenile correctional facility. Ninety percent completed an individual reentry plan with individual goals and actions steps prior to release. Ninety percent also showed improvement in social competency. Eighty-five completed a career plan and demonstrated an increase knowledge of available careers and requirements. They also completed a needs and strength-based assessment and identified at least community resource. Sixty percent were enrolled in an educational program and/or employed after release. Less than 10% of the youth were re- incarcerated while participating in the program. Marion county crime prevention grant phase i this program provided job readiness training and summer employment for six economically disadvantaged youth. 100% of program youth complete all weeks of the summer work program. 100% of program youth were employed an average of 20 hours per work week. 100% of program youth completed the program scoring proficient or higher for work readiness skills attainment as measured using a tool developed by the department of labor. 100% of program youth completed the program scoring proficient or higher in specific skills for entry level work in the food service/production field. 100% of program youth completed an individual career plan with an increased knowledge of available careers and requirements. 90% of youth completing program became employed and/or enrolled in an educational program at the end of the summer. 100% of youth did not have further contact with the juvenile or criminal justice system while employed in the program. Assisted with preparing 1,478 healthy, made from scratch meals and snacks for low-income children participating in our summer food program.
