Mission: The filing organization is currently inactive. All of its net assets and operations were transferred to a brother-sister affiliate 501(c)(3) organization in 2014.
Programs: Hospice needs the community - and the community needs hospice! During 2014, hospice of the comforter was privileged to provide end-of-life care to 2,399 patients in orange, seminole and osceola counties. Philanthropic gifts helped keep our promise that no one is turned away based on financial resources. On july 1, 2014 the operations conducted by the filing organization were transferred to sunsystem development corporation, a brother-sister affiliate of the filing organization also exempt from federal income tax under irc section 501(c)(3). Prior to this transfer, $66,671 was contributed to hospice of the comforter for those uninsured and under-insured.

" margie in 2014, 918 patients were cared for at hospice house in-patient unit, with an average stay of 5 days in 16 beautifully appointed private suites. In addition, robison residence, a private 6 bed long term residential hospice facility was home to 55 patients with an average stay of 39. 3 days. During 2014 these facilities were supported through philanthropic gifts via the hospice of the comforter foundation and sunsystem development corporation.
we are the experts in grief and care for families after the death of a loved one. The horizon's loss program for adults in 2014 provided 1324 individual counseling sessions and 149 group sessions at no charge. 119 children, often the 'forgotten grievers' were provided individual bereavement sessions in addition to providing 40 group sessions, camp healing hearts and public school grief support visits. Our bereavement support is not reimbursed by any form of insurance and is provided free of charge to families and is supported through the generosity of our community donors.
