Mission: Provide physicians with continuing education relating to advanced trauma life support.
Programs: Provided 6 courses to 107 individuals related to advanced trauma life support. These seminars demonstrate concepts & principles of patient assessment. Participants learn to establish & manage priorities in a trauma situation. Upon course completion participants will be able to initiate primary & secondary management necessary within the first hour of emergency care for acute life-threatening emergencies & demonstrate the skills necessary in initial management of trauma. The seminar has been approved by the american college of surgeons & by the american college of emergency physicians.
provided 4 courses to 80 individuals from 4 different hospitals in rural south dakota to provide a rural trauma team development course.
provided 1 course to 128 individuals from 46 different hospitals throughout the state of south dakota. Advanced trauma life support task force received $40,300 from the state department of health to provide a statewide trauma registry workshop.
