Mission: Educate the public about the impacts of peak oil, climate change and global finances on the local economy of addison county and to launch initiatives that increase community self-reliance and long-term sustainability.
Programs: Organized tour of local farms/producers. Developed a guide listing local growers and their products. Facilitated stone soup summit to highlight and celebrate farm to school programs. Annual networking conference for local food and farm entrepreneurs and regional capital providers. Projects to evaluate supply and demand for locally grown produce and further research to determine feasibility of an online sales platform for growers and buyers. Training of school food service workers, farmers and/or value-added producers on available technical and operational resources. Engage families and educators in activities to improve healthy eating and physical activity.
