Causes: Community Improvement & Capacity Building
Mission: “The mission of Action Pajaro Valley is to create a positive future for the residents of the Pajaro Valley by facilitating an ongoing collaborative process for planning, informing and serving as a resource for community decision-making.”
Programs: Implementation of the Growth Strategy · Working with the City of Watsonville to implement the voter approved Measure U-which calls for orderly growth and phased development. · Assisting the residents of the Town of Pajaro in North Monterey County and the Green Valley area of South Santa Cruz County with the development of community plans that can accommodate the need for additional housing and job growth while protecting resources. Pajaro River Flood Protection · Facilitating the Pajaro River Task Force, comprised of a broad range of community stakeholders, toward a consensus agreement on the Pajaro River Flood Protection Levee Reconstruction Project. · Facilitating a Pajaro River Technical Stream Team, comprised of scientists, to find an optimal stable design for the Pajaro River project. Community Education Forums · Hosting educational forums that focus on improving the quality of life for the region.
