Xena was a feral colony cat that had recently given birth when she was shot. Twice. She was paralyzed in her hind end. She was given a poor prognosis of ever recovering. Thankfully, after a few months of rehabilitation, she was able to walk. She was still feral and didn’t trust humans. She still had incontinence issues and mobility issues. I was desperate to find her a forever home with someone with experience with such a unique situation. As you can imagine, there were zero takers for poor Xena.
Then came ACME Cats Rescue Ranch into the picture. Not only were they experienced and skilled with special needs cats, they were offering a permanent home for a feral, special needs kitty! Not something you really ever hear about.
Xena still has the two bullets in her body, as removing them would have caused more damage to her spine. She needed a home that could not only handle her condition but she also would need loving, experienced caretakers that could help with any future complications from her devastating injuries.
Today, Xena is a happy cat that loves her people and doesn’t have to be scared ever again. ACME Cats Rescue Ranch is dedicated to helping cats that most people wouldn’t or can’t. Pat and Wesley are angels on Earth for unwanted cats that most would never consider adopting. I couldn’t have imagined a happier outcome for Xena than to be a beloved resident of ACME Cats Rescue Ranch!

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: ACME Cats Rescue Ranch is dedicated to enhancing the lives of special needs and senior cats often marginalized or deemed ‘unadoptable.’ Focusing on cats with mobility challenges, including those with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) and amputations, we provide compassionate, lifelong care and enrichment both indoors and outdoors to ensure these cats thrive in health, happiness, and dignity.
Results: Celebrating our 6th year as a 501(c)(3) charity in 2025, at any given time the Ranch hosts around 30 special needs cats.
Target demographics: rescue and care for special needs cats
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 50 cats through our sanctuary home, foster or community outreach of feral/strays.
Geographic areas served: Central Texas
Programs: We provide long term compassionate care for cats often deemed unadoptable due to physical or neurological issues. We also partner with other Central Texas rescues for placements and fostering, as well as our community involvement to assist cats in need.
