2014 was another banner year for Ace in the Hole Foundation. We hosted our FIFTH Beach Run & Walk in May. We remembered Mike as well as honored the life of Jason Burnett, who died with Mike while serving in Iraq. The Burnett family came from St. Cloud, Florida to be with us on such a special day. Mike and Jason blessed us with nice weather (finally!) and we hit all-time highs for attendance and fundraising. Since inception in 2008, Ace in the Hole Foundation has raised over $430,000.
Where does this money go and how did we raise it? Both great questions. This communication will provide some details into the workings of Ace in the Hole Foundation for the year 2014. For further information, please reach out to me or check our financial reports on www.guidestar.org
Where did the money come from in 2014?
• A majority of our revenue comes from the Annual Walk at Lido West Beach through registration fees and personal/corporate donations. We have to thank our dedicated corporate and personal sponsors, many of whom have been donating since the first walk in 2010.
• The remaining portion came from third party events:
o We were the beneficiary of the Belmont Festival "Wing Off" Competition in June, 2014. Garden City native and former friend/classmate of Mike, Tim Peeples, was the organizer of the event. We thank Tim for thinking of us and raising over $1,8000 for AITH.
o Mike's cousin and fellow Stars Wars fan, Ben LiCalzi, hosted a lemonade stand in his hometown of Croton-on-Hudson raising $170. We thank Ben for his hard work and selflessness.
o If you have any fundraising ideas, please reach out to us.
