Mission: To graduate well-rounded students with the capacity for high achievement and leadership in their colleges, careers, and society; who have in-depth subject mastery; who have hands-on, real world laboratory experiences; who understand technical and social issues inherent in applications of science and engineering; and who are educated as global citizens to view the world in local, national, and global contexts.
Programs: Instructional: open-enrollment chartered public school for grades 6 through 12, specializing in science, mathematics, engineering, and design. Algebra, biology, chemistry, and physics are taught beginning in the 7th grade.
student activities: there is a wide variety of activities available to asd students, including, but not limited to: future problem solvers, game theory, rocketry, game design & programming, theater, board games, knitting, gimp, juggling, ping pong, puzzles, mock trial, mathcounts, web design, chess club, yoga, technology student association, destination imagination, freshwater fish keeping, roller coaster physics, cross country running, math league, science quiz bowl, organizational skills, dark matter dark energy, sat prep, spanish club, and yearbook. Students are also offered the opportunity to lead their own enrichment course with the aid of an adult supervisor.
