Programs: Soccer for success: ac portland (dba active children portland) expanded after-school soccer programs to 25 service locations in the portland metro area. Participation grew by 300 students. Active children portland provided free soccer programming to those students for 27 weeks from september 2016-june 2017.
active children portland ran a curriculum that focused on basketball skill building, using those skills in game situations, and reaching our youth development goals. We did this by providing participants opportunities to develop and practice empathy, self-regulation and conflict resolution skills while learning the sport of basketball. Teams practiced four days a week and were also able to play in the portland parks and recreation's goldenball basketball league on the weekend.

Providence health and fitness days. The goal was to provide fun, educational activities in an engaging atmosphere to motivate students to learn how to make healthy lifestyle choices. The days were fantastic learning experiences which brought 3,000 students to the stadium the first fitness day and 5,500 students on the second fitness day. Active children portland was there both days to promote health through physical activity, nutritional learning, and creative writing. Active children portland ran two free summer camps for 150 children in underserved neighborhoods around the portland metro area. The students who participated in the camps were taught lessons about healthy eating.
