Mission: Ability Housing of Northeast Florida provides quality, affordable, community-inclusive housing for individuals and families at risk of homelessness and adults with disabilities. Fulfilling this mission is provides the most essential element of success for any person – a safe, stable place to live; a place of their own to call home.
Target demographics: Persons that are previously or at-risk of homelessness and those with disabilities.
Geographic areas served: developing affordable housing
Programs: Casa - unique and award-winning scattered site housing program consiting of 29 single-family homes dispersed throughout duval county. Casa provides affordable housing for extremely low income adults with disabilities, some of whom are also formerly homeless. The program utilizes a shared-housing model which is designed to allow adults to live independently with roommates in the community. Resident average income is approximately 13,350; rents average 349 per month. Outcome: 29 homes providing quality affordable housing for 60+ adults with disabilities.
villages program - the development and operation of quality, multi-family rental properties serving persons with a disability, formerly homeless, very and extremely low income individuals and families. The villages is dedicated to fostering the dignity, increased independence and self- sufficiency of all its residents. Individualized support services are offered to all residents to allow them to maintain their housing and access community-based services. Outcome: 195 units of housing and rental assitance providing quality affordable housing for persons with a disability, homeless or at risk, low-income families and individuals.
housing link - a rental assistance program that serves persons with disabilites experiencing long-term or repeated episodes of homelessness so they may afford housing in communities throughout duval and nassau counties. Services are provided to ensure each resident is provided voluntary, individualized case management services so that the households may retain its housing and increase their self-sufficiency. Outcome: 17 chronically homeless households provided rental assistance and services to live independently in the community.
