Mission: Adapted recreation services (ars) is a service whose goal is to promote inclusion for people with disabilities and their families so that they may enjoy the benefits of recreational programming. Utilizing fitness centers, municipal recreational programs and disability oriented services, ars can create a community environment beneficial for all. Ars will assist in the development of recreational programs, provide education and training opportunities, develop integration services, and assess the accessiblity and effectiveness of programming for people with disabilities. These services will allow people of all ages and abilities to have successful experiences while ensuring all additional needs will be met. This plan will lead to an expansion of services designed to support the growing needs in our local society.
Programs: The personal training program through ars is a unique program that provides training in multiple locations, utilizing the resources within the community in addition to home-based programming. The training consists of an overall health assessment, healthy living sheet (established goals), and the development of fitness charts for home and community-based fitness training. The program will be built around each individual's needs allowing for maximum success.
in the adapted aquatics program, swimming goals will be developed, assessed, and implemented that focus on a person's abilities and what they can achieve. They will receive the amount of support from an instructor and volunteers that is required to have the greatest success. The student will work on weekly goals that focus on swimming skills, water awareness/safety skills, and their individual goals. The adapted aquatics for the fall will solely be one on one lessons, there will not be any group lessons
ars would like to help people become engaged in their community through their adapted recreation/physical education consultation. We will help find you, integrate, and consult with community programs to ensure successful experiences.
adapted recreation services would like to offer a movement program that will help you fall in love with exercise. The group fitness program will create a fun way to move your body and try new things that will get your heart rate up. The class will provide an instructor that will motivate and get you energized creating a fun atmosphere with friends. This is a onetime program to see if we get enough interest in creating additional programs.
