Mission: The mission of abbey hospice foundation is to provide bereavement services to those individuals affected by the illness or loss of a loved one.
Programs: In 2017 the following achievements helped to support the exempt purpose in march of 2017, a walk down memory lane was held in downtown social circle. It is a walk for community members that have lost loved ones. We had 55 people to participate. In april of 2017, camp journey was held at camp twin lakes in rutledge ga. This is an annual grief camp for children that have lost a loved one. We had 44 people attend this year. The camp helps children through creative therapy and hands on activities to process grief and develop relationships with peers. In may of 2017, we had an interfaith memorial service with 51 attending and in november of 2017 we had another service with 67 attendees. We host this event to honor the lives of loved one for families. In november of 2017 the foundation purchased turkey dinners for 17 families of our patients. We also purchased 12 turkey dinners for needy students and their families that attend social circle city schools. Year round: the small gift program is offered with the purpose of helping terminally ill patients and their families maintain an acceptable quality of life by assisting with basic non medical needs. Assistance is provided for such things as utilites, groceries, toiletries, and exterminating fees.
