I volunteered at A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. organization for more then twelve years. This is a nonprofit organization committed to helping homeless women and homeless women with children. I am a volunteer at the nonprofit thrift store now. I have volunteered by transporting clients to other resources for more supported services. Due to the lack of funding to open a new transitional housing facility for homeless women up to 2 years, which includes a 5 tier basic life skills training program; the organization have operated as a referral service for the past 13 years. A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S have successfully referred and transported over 500 individuals to diverse shelters, Help of Southern Nevada, Clark County Social Services, Low-Income Housing Complexes, Employment Sites, and Food Banks throughout Clark County, Nevada. Ms. B.J. Rice have been committed to A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. (Wellness-Independence-Goals-Success) physically, financially and spiritually. A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. have several fundraising events throughout the year to keep operating. In February 2011 the organization launched new thrift store to help generate funds toward the transitional housing facility. A part of basic life skills training program; Dress- for- Success clothing will be donated to our clients from the organization’s thrift store.
The partnership with Clark County Social Service Workers the past five years have been a great success for many clients. A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. (Wellness-Independence-Goals-Success) have trained over 100 clients referred for Community Service through the TANF Work Program. Training Included; retail sales, customer service (meet & greet customers), cashier, stock and organizing clothes in the store etc. We assist Social Workers with clothing donations to less fortunate families. A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. (Wellness-Independence-Goals-Success) have also built a strong relationship with Help of Southern Nevada by providing Community Service to their clients for the Courts and provides Community Service to all Courts throughout Clark County.
This Ms. Rice MOTTO:

A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. believes we all can fly. Sometimes we need assistance to fly away from those things that causes us stress and despair. We enjoy having the opportunity to provide individuals with the tools to obtain wings or repair those that have been broken by life's challenges. We realize with the proper training, assistance, encouragement and support - all people can fly. Though we all fly in different directions and with different missions, A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. desires to offer a positive direction through hope. As individuals walk through the doors of A Second Chance for W.I.N.G.S. the healing and growth process will begin. We offer positive reinforcement and tools for success.
