I joined 51 VETS because I heard of all the great opportunities for SOF members
transitioning out of the military and into the private sector. I was very anxious and nervous
about my transition and needed help. I didn’t have a real idea of what I wanted to do other
than go into business. I was interested in Consulting, Financing, and Private Equity Operations. I
was looking for a Skillbridge internship to gain experience, learn about the corporate world, and
help me figure out what I wanted. I was fortunate enough to attend the 51 VETS San Francisco
Summit. This was a 2-day event in San Francisco for 15-20 members from 51 VETS with travel
and lodging expenses covered by 51 VETs. At the summit we had the chance to meet and talk
intimately with senior executive level leaders in Private Equity, Business Development, Consulting,
Investment Banking, Venture Capitalism, and Product Management. This was a great
opportunity to connect one on one with senior level business leaders from a diverse
background. Some were also veterans which made the connection even more meaningful and
valuable hearing about their career path a successful transition out of the military and into the
corporate world.
51 VETS is also how I found my Skillbridge internship through networking in the organization. I was fortunate enough to transition that skiillbridge internship into a full-time employment position.
None of these opportunities would have been possible for me without 51 VETS. I
continue to grow my network through 51 VETS connecting with other business leaders and
veterans. I gained the experience, knowledge, and confidence necessary to be successful in my
transition into the corporate world. I highly recommend 51 VETS to any SOF veteran.

51Vets has been nothing short of incredible. After 10 years as an Army Aviator and a Special Operations Pilot, I decided to transition from military service to the civilian sector. This organization was filled with like minded individuals that already navigated the pivot. The mentorship, networking, and employment opportunities catalyzed a smooth transition from military service.
Without 51 Vets I’m not sure where I would be post transition. Everyone talks about getting out and finding your “tribe” but coming out of a SOF team and into the civilian world that is nearly impossible. 51 Vets however made it easy, and being able to network with and learn from other operators and pilots that are on the same path and facing the same struggles was paramount in my transition.

Post-military, my goal is to jump into entrepreneurship by acquiring a business. 51 Vets set me on the right path by sponsoring a trip to AGC DealMax for other like-minded vets, where we were given the opportunity to network with many different professionals within this space.
