I am deeply honored to have been recognized as one of the 40 Women To Watch Over 40 in 2022. This prestigious accolade not only celebrates individual achievements but also shines a light on the incredible contributions women make across various fields in Utah. The organization plays a vital role in upending the perception that turning 40 is past your prime; instead, it emphasizes that this milestone marks the opening of new possibilities and leadership opportunities. Being part of this distinguished group has allowed me to represent southern Utah, Utah Tech University, and the Utah Women's Leadership Exchange, where I serve as executive director. 40 Over 40 has been instrumental in connecting and empowering women leaders throughout our state, fostering a network of support and collaboration that is essential for growth and innovation. The annual recognition of 40 remarkable women showcases the diverse talents and relentless determination of women in business, education, health care, and community service. Each honoree brings a unique story and perspective, and together, we form a powerful tapestry of inspiration and resilience.

I am grateful to the organization for creating this space to celebrate our achievements and for encouraging women to embrace their strengths at every stage of life. I have been skeptical for years of women's groups not because I thought they were not important, but I have always wanted to be recognized and valued because of my competence and contributions and not because I am female. When I was selected for an award for 40 over 40, I was surprised, excited, humbled and appreciative of the recognition. There was something different about this award than other awards I have received. I could feel and see that it was given for the two things I value in any award - competence and contribution. As I attended the award ceremony, I was struck by the commonality and diversity of the women being recognized. I witnessed commonality in commitment, resilience, challenges in their careers and personal lives that had been overcome and used to promote positive change, mentoring on many levels through age and experience, investment in self and others, and empowerment. And I witnessed diversity of the best kind in diverse voices, thoughtful leadership, experiences, education, life journey, age and race. I left what I thought would just be a nice awards luncheon with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation strengthened by stories of women who have and will continue to shape future generations through their advocacy and example.
I am grateful for the vision Julia and Robyn have for 40 over 40 in recognizing talent and through fostering collaboration, we can lead to more effective solutions to societal issues, inspire others to pursue their own ambitions and invest in female leadership and education.

The connection that was created in that room with the women being honored was such a positive, electric feeling. This organization has done an excellent job highlighting the good women over 40 do in the community.

I appreciate this group because of the community they are bringing together to recognize women in Utah. Attending their event was so inspiring to see the phenomenal women that have made an incredible impact in this state.

What an incredible organization! The founders swooped in a filled a gaping hole - women over 40 were not being acknowledged or celebrated for the time, energy, work, drive and miraculous balancing act they've been performing for years! This year at the awards luncheon I was brought to tears several times hearing about the incredible work these 40 women were doing in our community. Things like national research on belonging and suicide prevention to teaching yoga in our prison system. Thank you 40 Over 40 for showing up for women!

A truly transformative nonprofit. Like many women in Utah, I had children on the younger end of the spectrum and stayed home with them for 15 years. There was a huge part of me that wanted to get back into the workforce and have a career. I had so many doubts being that I was older when I began that journey (38). I had to start at the bottom but was lucky enough to have some great opportunities with the ability to advance. For so many people but women especially, careers have a delayed timeframe. 40 Over 40 gives value and honor to that journey and creates a platform to celebrate the maturity and wisdom that comes with age. In a youth obsessed culture, I believe missions like this are vital to encouraging those who may think it's too late but who have so much to contribute to the workforce and society to go for it despite age. The event itself is a beautiful and heartfelt celebration of women who make a difference in the lives of others as professionals and as humans. It was organized, inclusive, uplifting. I am grateful to have been honored but more so, I'm grateful that they're telling the stories of the women amongst us who will motivate and inspire others not to let age be a deterrent.
