Causes: Disaster Aid, Mental Health
Mission: The emotional impact of a line of duty death remains for years and families are left to cope with the tragic loss. Research shows that traumatic grief is intense for up to five years, 59% of law enforcement survivors meet the requirement for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and 67% of families pay for funeral expense from their own pockets. Because their loved ones paid the highest price to protect us, it is important we help their families cope with the reality of facing life alone. The officer's duty is to serve; let ours be to honor the sacrifice made by assisting the families they loved.
