I began volunteering at WSHS over a year ago. I had spare time and felt that volunteering with dogs at a local humane society was just the right thing. Turns out, it has been more rewarding than I even imagined. My time at WSHS has also taught me alot about dog behaviors, vaccinations and other helpful knowledge. The staff at WSHS is always awesome - they are friendly, helpful, and superbly knowledgable. The shelter is small, old and in need of alot of repairs - but the hearts of the volunteers and staff show that no matter how delapidated we are, we are still there to save and nurture and dogs and cats that need us the most. It has been a pleasure volunteering my time here, even during my evening cleaing and socializing shift when it's 10 degrees outside -- nothing can compare to the joy of seeing the dogs happy that someone is there to spend time with them.
