Mission: The mission of Dress for Success® Greater Orlando is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.Right now, literally thousands of Central Florida women are unemployed or underemployed and unable to support themselves. They have the desire to succeed, but not the means to buy the career wardrobe necessary to get started in a real job.Almost one in eight women is considered poor, compared to one in twelve men. Statistics show that when a woman becomes self-sufficient, it?s not just her immediate family who will experience a higher standard of living. Her children (especially her daughters) see their mother as a role model and pass on the desire for meaningful employment ? directly correlated with reduced teen pregnancy and substance abuse -- to their daughters, and so on. Hundreds of children in future generations will have the potential for a better life helping themselves in a meaningful career instead of getting a check from the government. It all starts with a suit. The problem: without a job, how do you afford the suit?

Dress for Success Greater Orlando provides business clothing to women who are re-entering the workforce and career support once clients are employed. The organization is well known for providing interview appropriate attire, but few people are aware of the Professional Women's Group program and the fantastic work being done to help women retain their employment. The Greater Orlando affiliate serves hundreds of women each year with just one staff member and a group of dedicated volunteers. And... they do it in a 600 sq. ft. classroom portable! I hope you'll consider supporting Dress for Success Greater Orlando.
