Mission: The William & Lanaea C. Featherstone Foundation is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering, inspiring and impacting the immigrant Latino community. The Foundation strives to strengthen cultural understandings of diverse populations through educational training programs.
Our mission and vision are at the core of our beliefs and shapes our work. We are vigorously working to make positive change in our community, our society and our nation. Based on our mission, we developed a set of guiding principles that outline our beliefs; these principles guide what we do, why we do it and how we do it.
The work that we do puts the mission into practical terms. We are working tirelessly to give the less fortunate an opportunity to achieve economic success through educational training programs. We are on the forefront teaching immigrants vital skills (English language, citizenship, computer literacy and financial literacy); empowering underprivileged youth to become global leaders and rebuilding communities. The William & Lanaea C. Featherstone Foundation is an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization with 501 C 3 status granted by the IRS. With its own board, the foundation sets policies and delegate authority to the chairman of the board and president. The board members are instrumental in shaping the Foundations' direction. Staff members, volunteers and interns are committed to the cause and want to improve the lives of Latinos in their communities and nationwide.
Results: In 2008, The Featherstone Foundation received a community service award from Winchester Homes for our “unique ability to make life better for individuals and families in their communities.”
The Featherstone Foundation has also been featured in the U.S. Department of State’s for its impact in the Latino community. Spanish language publications such as Latin Opinion Baltimore Newspaper, Somos Baltimore and Prensa Libre have cronicled our organization. In addition, the Voice of Russia, profiled one of our Peruvian participants Renzo Gonzalez as he produced a resume for the first time during one of our computer literacy programs.
For the first time, the participants of our robust computer literacy program learn how to use the Internet, Microsoft Office, create resumes, and sign-up for e-mail accounts. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive refurbished computers for their homes.

The various programs, Reaching New Heights and the financial literacy conference are invaluable tools to truly empower and educate the Latino community.
Our firm has worked with the Featherstone Foundation for over four years. It has been extremely exciting to see the number of participants in the programs and services offered by the Featherstone Foundation grow each year. Additionally, the Featherstone Foundation’s outreach, training programs and partnerships with the business community, have helped participants from the Latino community obtain successful careers in the financial services industry. Many of these highly qualified and diverse participants would not have had the opportunity to meet with employers to discuss their knowledge and experience without the Featherstone Foundation’s assistance and workforce readiness training programs. The Featherstone Foundation has truly been a bridge for attracting culturally diverse talent with employers and positively impacting the lives of Latino families. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Featherstone Foundation!
Having volunteered for The Featherstone Foundation, I am truly impressed at the level of dedication the staff members have shown for the projects they undertake to help the Baltimore community. The student participants of their computer literacy program are so grateful! I was very happy to have volunteered for this organization and will volunteer again in the future. I highly recommend this organization. Their commitment to program participants goes beyond the graduation date of the program and that to just demonstrates the level of commitment this org. has to their participants.

We have partnered with the Featherstone Foundation for several years, and have nothing but good things to say about our work with them. They are an organized, passionate and motivated organization, serving the Latino community in authentic ways. They clearly identify needs, establish programming that meets the need, and then see the work through with success. As a Professional working directly with Latino's in the Baltimore area and surrounding counties, I have had the pleasure of Partnering with this amazing organization. I have referred many to this organization because I know my client's will be served with dignity and grace regardless of their economic or citizenship status. Ms. Featherstone has been extremely instrumental in fostering a positive outlook for Latino's who wish to continue their education utilizing the Computer program along with all of the other programs that this foundation offers. I truly appreciate the way the participant's get hands on experience in different areas and how the program focuses on an individual's strength and not their weaknesses. Not only do they guide you while you are in the program, they continue to provide support to those who graduate assisting them to become productive and active members of their community. I just love The Featherstone Foundation!
