I’ve had the honor of serving as Board Chair of Saving Mothers for the past several years, and am immensely proud of the critical work we are doing to improve maternal health in areas of the world where the need is greatest, including right here in the U.S. Our innovative solutions, together with proprietary education, training and surgical intervention programs, have saved the lives of thousands of women, and have made a measurable difference in the lives of thousands more. Saving Mothers’ groundbreaking work in the area of women’s reproductive health is empowering the world’s most marginalized sector, and our programming stands apart because it is practical, field-tested, effective and replicable. Our organization is run by medical professionals who are hands-on, and we selectively partner with the best and brightest healthcare providers and related organizations to create a range of products and programs that effectively shape our promise and deliver our mission. Our global work in underserved communities has provided us with a uniquely informed perspective on the most powerful ways to address health literacy, cultural tenets, the implicit bias of providers and the issues of healthcare access and delivery. And we are applying this knowledge to our work here at home. For example, our NYC mPOWHER Program educates and trains CHWs, doulas and other frontline maternal healthcare workers as well as pregnant individuals, to advance both groups’ understanding of health risk and prevention, effective communication, and the power of advocacy. At Saving Mothers, we believe that when we encourage positive interaction and lift up pregnant people together with their healthcare providers, the result is true empowerment and a self-sustaining resilience within families and across communities. We hope you will visit our website to learn more about us and to support us in our mission to ensure that no woman dies giving life.

Saving Mothers is a phenomenal organization run by spectacular medical professionals. All of the nonprofit's programming is strictly research-backed, and the physicians on staff treat women around the world with the utmost empathy and care. It has been a pleasure to witness their work as a volunteer, and I only hope they will grow because they fill such an important niche in this space and their theory of change is highly effective.

I am an OB/GYN Sonographer with 8 years of experience. I traveled to Dominican Republic with Saving Mothers and am extremely proud of their work. This nonprofit is unique because it is made of a group of elite medical professionals that have established relationships in the communities they serve. The Saving Mothers' team of surgeons, physician assistants and nurses provide developing areas with acute care and education to ensure sustainability. Their goal is to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity in developing areas. They have made strides, opening the school of POWHER in Guatemala. They also have Domestic programs to help promote healthy lifestyles to expecting mothers.
I volunteered with Saving Mothers in Santiago, Guatemala location and found my experience memorable and worthwhile. I felt in the month I spent volunteering, I was able to contribute maximally to the local community abroad. I hope the work continues onward to affecting many more women in Guatemala.
I became involved with Saving Mothers over a year ago because I was very drawn to the cause. But beyond doing amazing work with their birthing kits and the maternal programs to educate women and their health care providers to help reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, Saving Mothers is an organization that is concerned with all kinds of women's issues, including the adverse effects of obesity and pregnancy. Through their Lifestyle program, they help women make healthy lifestyle choices for themselves and their babies. Saving Mothers is a well-rounded organization where you can see the impact of their work in a very direct way.
Saving Mothers never misses an opportunity to serve the global community and its contributions demonstrate a compassion and enthusiasm to help others. The sum of their efforts to alleviate suffering around the world demonstrates Saving Mothers’ drive to make a positive difference in the lives of people irrespective of their social or economic station in life. Saving Mothers’ performance in every capacity is exceptional and its commitment to training new volunteers is integral to ensuring continuity of operations year after year. Ultimately, Saving Mothers is always ready to use the resources at their disposal to change the lives of others with humility and empathy and I have no doubt that this organization will continue to make an enduring impact on worthy causes.
Although I cannot speak directly about the work that Saving Mother provides abroad, I would like to share my experience working with members of their team. I was immensely impressed with the professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm of each staff member. It was very clear to me that each staff member took pride in his of her work and was passionate about the group's mission.
Saving Mothers is a non-profit committed to the care of women in areas of the world where maternal mortality is high. Through educating the local providers in these countries and empowering women abroad we hope to combat the high rates of maternal death. As an ob/gyn, I am committed to the care of women and the high rates of maternal death worldwide are completely unacceptable. Through Saving Mothers we create public health outreach and deliver clinical care to these women. It has been an amazing experience!
Thrugh my daugher's involvement in Saving Mothers, I have been educated on the maternal morbidity and mortality of childbirth throughout the world and I am astounded of what i have learned. By being involved and supporting Saving Mothers, the proper health care and education for pregrnant mothers will become a right and no longer a privlege to so many. In order to be successful in the mission of Saving Mothers, I have personally spread the word to family, friends and business associations in hope of as much support that one can achieve. As Saving Mothers ibecomes more successful in expressing their cause and achieving financial support, then there is no reason why materinal morbidity and mortality would be a factor just because a woman did not have access to the proper health care of education needed have a full term healthy pregnancy and delivery.
This April, I had the opportunity to watch the Saving Mothers organization in action while an entire room full of local midwives discussed a serious issue in Guatemala, women's health. as the conversations filled the room, it was very obvious that Saving Mothers had worked hard to get to this point, and was thrilled to present these Mayan midwives with interpreters, both a local and foreign doctor, reading material and much needed birthing kits. in addition, Saving Mothers helped the comadrones (midwives) learn more about recognizing early warning signs and helped bridge the gap between the midwives and the local hospital. Saving Mothers is a fine example of how health care needs can be addressed in foreign locales where traditional beliefs run strong. i do not doubt that everyone walked away having learned a lot and was excited to learn/share even more.
I am a medical professional and close friend and supporter of the organization. I have been incredibly impressed with the breadth of its programming, the strategic approach to complex problems like fistula repair, and the fact that all money given to the organization goes directly to women who need it. They are doing extremely good work in Guatemala and Liberia and have already changed lives for the better as a young nonprofit. I can't wait to see what they do once they grow.
I am so fortunate to be involved with this organization because it helps me utilize the skills that I have gained as a women's health nurse outside of the typical hospital setting. Furthermore, it is so exciting to be part of this non-profit organization as it continues to grow and inspire more people everyday. There is so much potential for Saving Mothers, because the Board of Directors is made up of extremely passionate and intelligent women who truly care about the charity. Already, within the past 9 months, I have seen Saving Mothers surpass fundraising goals and bring awareness to new communities.
As a close friend of someone who is central to the extraordinary work that Saving Mothers does, I have seen first-hand the dedication and hard-won success that has improved the lives of so many women. In turn, Saving Mothers has become my favorite Mother's Day present and I would like to encourage others to experience the happiness of knowing that a donation has been made in their name to this wonderful and urgent cause. It would work for Father's Day, too or any important occasion, come to think of it. No more ties or coffee table books, give to Saving Mothers in the name of your loved one and encourage others to do likewise!
I have been working to spread the word about Saving Mothers for more than a year. Saving Mothers works incredibly efficiently and effectively to protect the health of mothers and their newborns. By providing the supplies women and traditional birth attendants need to ensure healthy deliveries, as well as fistula repair services and related care, the organization is addressing the major causes of preventable maternal mortality and morbidity in the developing world. Dedicating every penny raised from donors to these programs, Saving Mothers is already seeing positive results from its initiatives, and has a clear and achievable plan to expand its efforts. What the nonprofit needs most is recognition from other prominent women's and health organizations that can help it extend its reach and channel more and better resources to the women it serves.
I am a consistent donor to this organization because I believe in the organization's cause and its work. As a volunteer who has helped assemble birthing kits, I have seen first-hand, the medical supplies that they bring and distribute to women in resource-poor regions. Their teams of obstetrician-gynecologists have also provided life-saving cesarean sections and life-improving obstetric fistula repairs to women in rural Guatemala and Liberia. Overall, Saving Mothers is an organization that has consistently works to directly empower women in developing countries. I am proud to be donor and volunteer for this organization.
