I attended my first NBCC Advocacy Training three years ago. I am the Resource Coordinator for the San Juan Cancer Center in Montrose
Colorado. I have been active as an advocate for breast cancer warriors for the past 14 years. The day I was diagonosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This orginazition help me out of the pink cloud and into a stronger fighter for ending this cancer. NBCC helped me be better equipped to help the women, men and families dealing with this diagnosis.

I learned to honor the pink in my and to let my red bull spirit go. I respect
the way NBCC opens our minds. This organization brought this country girl to the table. I am a better and more informed survivor and health care provider each year I come.

The National Breast Cancer Coalition is a nationwide coaltion of local groups involved with breast cancer. The NBCC provides these groups with a means of educating their members so that they may serve as more effective breast cancer advocates at a local level. The NBCC also offers a strong, unified voice in advocating for breast cancer support at the national level.

NBCC is committed to getting the RIGHT work done in the field of breast cancer.

This organization isn't just about "breast cancer awareness" or incremental gains in treatment. It is about ERADICATING the disease of breast cancer. In fact, NBCC recently set itself this very goal, with a deadline of January, 2020.

In order to achieve the "impossible" goal of eliminating breast cancer, the NBCC supports funding research that seeks anwers in genetics, virology, immunology, and environmental science that can prevent and cure breast cancer, not merely extend survival by a few months.

The NBCC seeks to educate everyone in the breast cancer community - patients, caregivers, friends/relatives, researchers, and policy makers - about the facts about breast cancer, relying on evidence rather than myth.

At times it feels as though nothing is happening to prevent breast cancer. Yet, after becoming a member of NBCC three years ago and attending the national conferences in D.C. at which women from across the country have the opportunity to learn the latest in breast cancer research and meet with legislative representaties who make decisions about the importance of funding reseach, I now recognize just how much NBCC does and what it has accomplished. A fearless group of women have taken on the challenge to end a disease that hurts so many of their sisters and they themselves. I completely understand its alue, its importance and its successes. The funding that now continues to offer free breast and cervical screenings to women ages 40 - 64 who are uninsured or underinsured is so vital to the area I live in. NBCC's support of this is immeasurable. In La Plata Couonty, Colorado, alone three women were detected with breast cancer in this fiscal year and were able to have financial aid for their treatment. Saving three lives is important! If that number in one county are helped, think of how many nationally are given life because of the NBCCEDP program for which NBCC advocates annually. Think of how much research has been funded because of their push for research dollars! Citizen voices are heard!!
