It has been nearly ten years since my husband and me sponsored our two orphan boys in orphanage run by Hearth to Hearth Ministries. We had had a burden for starving children, but felt so helpless! Suddenly we realized, that "we cannot change the whole world, but we can change the whole world of one child".
For us, as a sponsors, it was very important that we could write to our sponsored children, and receive pictures of them and letters written by them. They became part of our lives, and we became part of theirs. The older sponsored son went to university last year, the other one is going to sits at his final exams at high school soon.
It is unbelievable that for relatively small amount of money one can make such change in a life of an orphan, and give them future and HOPE!
Hearth To Hearth Ministries is a God sent non-profit organisation I came to know about quite a long time ago and followed it up to date. For all these years it has uplifted from scratch many orphaned, needy and helpless children in Uganda. To this I bear witness. One such child is now a medical practitioner in a slum area in one of the towns near me in Uganda. Hearth To Hearth has now offered to sponsor him for a higher degree in medicine. I can bet this young man would never have afforded to reach the grade at which he is now. Ooh!! what an act of humanitarianism; and what a good Samaritan this organisation is !! Only God knows.
I have seen and witnessed the change of life in many other children this organisation has helped attain greater horizons. For example, again, three young girls are sponsored for training in Catering. One other girl is doing a nursing course in one of the quality institutions for that profession. The live story continues.

this organization has been in existence for 17 years. 97% of donations hit the ground in East Africa. Their focus is on saving endangered and at risk children, primarily orphans. The children are given a home from the time they are admitted at least through high school, and often beyond. They will always be welcome back, and often return to help inspire the little children. Hearth to Hearth operates a small orphanage in Uganda as well as a free/low cost clinic to provide care for the poor who can't afford it. Hope Center in Kenya has a large orphanage with nearly 140 children, a primary school and a large farm. The children learn life sustaining skills growing crops and livestock. They are given a safe place to grieve the loss of their parents, spiritual guidance (non denominational), lots of brothers and sisters, and the tools to become contributing adults.
Day by day orphans and at risk children in Kenya and Uganda are being changed for the better by the love and care of Hearth to Hearth Ministries. The kids that once had no home, some literally living on the streets, are provided with a safe place to live, food, clothes, an education, a spiritual base, and most importantly, love from caring adults who live and work at Hope for Children Center and Academy in Kenya, and Maranatha Childrens Home in Uganda. I have spent time with these children and see the sparkle, laughter and curiosity in their eyes. They now have hope for a successful life and can see the possibility of a bright future for themselves. The transformation is amazing! This ministry is led by an awesome God!
Hearth to Hearth Ministries is an excellent way to help orphaned and at-risk children in Kenya and Uganda. It operates two children centers, one in each country, providing a loving and caring environment where the children, most of whom were orphaned by the AIDs epidemic, can thrive. I had the opportunity to visit both centers last year and was very impressed with the caring staff, all of whom are from the area in which the centers are located. Hearth to Hearth is an all-volunteer organization with 97% of funds raised going directly to support the children's centers and ancillary programs. It has a very dedicated board of directors that donate generously of their time, talents and finances to support the work of the organization. It has a sponsorship program which is a wonderful way of making a difference in a very needy child's life.
I have been working with Hearth to Hearth for 7 years. I have seen children from our Centers grow up, marry, and begin families of their own. The love,home and education the children receive carries them forward to successful lives as adults. The leaders and volunteers in this organization receive no compensation, and cover all their own expenses. Hearth to Hearth showers love upon these children.
I started by supporting a wonderful orphan, who has now gone on to college, is working on a higher degree, and best of all, is now teaching at the orphange! It is incredibly rewarding to have played a part in giving him a start, and now he is able to give back, while earning an income, and becoming self sufficient!

Hearth to Hearth Ministries is a small organization that has very low overhead. The staff in the US and board of directors members are all volunteers and pay for their own expenses. Staff at the orphanages are given small stipends but these workers sacrafice to make a difference in the lives of these poor children. I feel like my money is working for the benefit of these orphans who have so little. I have been sponsoring 3 children for several years. It is a thrill to get a letter from them or to see a recent photo. They are doing so much better now than when they first came to the orphanage. I am making a difference in these children's lives, and it feels good!
