For The Sake Of One

I love that I can help local foster families even though I’m not quite ready to become a foster parent myself.

Wow, where do I even begin with explaining how much For The Sake of One means to me and my family. From training, to providing clothing and supplies for foster kids, to parents night out and restaurant gift cards. The most important thing they provide is encouragement, and the knowledge that we are not alone on this journey. There is no way we would be able to do foster care in Texarkana without the support of For The Sake of One. Not only are they valuable to foster parents, they are a vital resource in our city for bio parents, case workers, and most importantly foster kids in our area.

My wife and I have been truly blessed by For The Sake of One and the lifelong friends we have made through their various events. There would be a huge void in our community if For The Sake of One did not exist.

We were new to the foster care/adoption world and For The Sake of One was a great resource and support for our new family. And the support continues on between support groups, parent nights out (which the kids called Kids Night Out) and the safe space for prayers, a shoulder to cry on and a hand to hold. For The Sake of One Is true to their mission of helping the whole family during the ups and downs of foster care and adoption.

For the Sake of One is a wonderful group to volunteer with. They have a great mission. It is incredible to help them do what they do.

For the Sake of One has been such a blessing to our family! As we have gotten our foster placements they’ve always been so willing to help with things we needed last minute such as formula and diapers and even clothes. They are such an amazing asset to our community both foster and for birth parents!

For Sake of One has been a blessing to our family since we joined the Kinship/Foster world. When our family grew from 1 child to 5, FSO helped our children get the beds, bedding, clothing, and school supplies that they have needed. We’ve received valuable training, advice, delicious meals, and much needed parent nights out from the amazing founder and volunteers with FSO.
This organization is a blessing to everyone involved in our foster care community. I am sincerely grateful for them.

For The Sake Of One provided us everything needed during our first experience with foster care. We could not have done it without their support.

A year ago our youngest daughter had her 4 children removed from her home and placed in our home. Our church family helped and someone from the church sent us to For The Sake of One. It was then when I walked in and met the young ladies who run this awesome place. Not only did they supply us with clothes and diapers and wipes , they supplied us with a shoulder to lean on, a ear to listen to in the chaos that was going on in our life. Our life was already full with 2 other granddaughters,do adding 4 more to the mix was overwhelmingly hard. Angela and the ladies there were not only a help with supplies , they were a help to our spiritual being.
I am forever grateful to these ladies and FTSO.
May God continue to bless these ladies and this support system for Foster Children.
Helping them when they make a need known is what we do now. If it's school supplies , clothes , shoes ,toys or just simply prayers.

I got to see first hand the dedication and work this organization puts in to the Foster care system. They are always looking to help, and are just a WONDERFUL GROUP!!!

As an attorney who represents children and parents in CPS cases, any time I have a need for a client or an idea to improve services, For the Sake of One steps up to meet the need. This organization has been a blessing to parts of the system - caseworkers, children, family placements, biological parents, foster parents, adoptive parents. The trauma training provided through For the Sake of One has helped us all become better able to help children and biological parents adjust to the needs of traumatized children.

For the Sake of one was an invaluable tool on my foster care journey. The offered great events for my kids that gave me a much needed break. Sometimes a solo walk through Target is just what a mom needs!

They showed up with clothes, diapers and boots the night of placement to keep me from dragging 5 year old twins to the store on our first night!

They organized a meal train for my first week of a very difficult placement. It was so helpful to have one less thing to worry about while helping my boys adjust.

They are not just pro-kid, they are pro-family! They helped with rides to visitation for my kids' bio parents - in order to help reach the goal of reunification.

When my girls were in dire need of therapy - with a therapist that could only see them during school hours - they provided a safe, caring adult to take them weekly. As a single working mom, this was heaven sent- and made a life long impact on my girls futures.

I will be forever grateful to For the Sake of One!
