The Jewish Genealogy Society of Greater Washington (JGSGW) was established as a non-profit society in 1980. Projects have included indexing of records of the State Department, local area cemeteries and funeral homes. The current research project is to index the Jews buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Our sons showed a lot of interest and talent in performance art, singing and dancing, esp., we looked for an whole some, family friendly and not high pressure environment for them to learn, participate and expand their experience. HST was the answer of our prayer. HST was run by one full time executive director and a whole army of volunteers that serves children k-12. In our opinion, it is one of the best environment for kids to learn, experience and participate in performance art. The experience is complete for the whole family. Not only our children and ourselves learned and grew to love art. We all made friends that is going to be with us for life. All this at a very reasonable cost.

Our sons started at dance and acting classes, and progress to be on upper level troupes all the way through their middle school and high school years. They truely enjoyed the whole HST process. We can see that the friends they know through HST are going to be their best friends for life. In fact, my oldest son learned so much from HST that he is now a minor dance major at University of Maryland. My second son is in choral, sings acapella and participates in drama group at his college as well. Even our youngest, who is a totally different kind of personality, is currently enrolled in HST and enjoy doing tech work as well.

I selected "Client Served" as our role, but in reality, every family parcipating are also volunteers. We also later become board members because we believe in the organization so so much that we will do everrything we can to help make it better.
