I am always moved by an ArtStream performance. Knights of Glory showed me the power of the arts when I glanced at the smiling faces of the ill children who were either watching or happily performing on stage. I was struck by the depth of joy on their tired parents' faces. It gave me goose bumps. ArtStream is more than a wonderful outlet for anyone and everyone. ArtStream is family.Kara age 16

ART STREAM
Bill O'Grady

Art Stream,
Meeting people in their struggles and strengths,
And witnessing art,
Theater,
Poetry,
Writing,
Singing,
Dancing .....
Bringing each to a place,
A very special place,
Where, released from those certain limitations,
They soar,
Becoming their complete person
Fulfilling dreams
Art Stream allows it all to happen.

When a young adult with a disability leaves high school, he or she experiences a sudden vacuum of opportunities to socialize and participate in the arts. ArtStream offers not only a place to gather, but a way to mature and draw out abilities that participants don't always know they have. I am truly impressed with the combination of skill, heart, and vision that each of the ArtStream leaders expresses. There is a palpable sense of goodness that permeates the organization. It makes you feel better about life just to be connected with ArtStream.

My son Eli Lewis is an actor. He has performed with a troupe for over 6 years but unfortunately he was required to leave the acting troupe that he knew at 18. Since my son is a person with severe disabilities his acting career could have ended there. Art Stream creates an opportunity for my son to be taken seriously as an actor, a person and a friend. He attends class in Silver Spring at the Round House education offices.
He loves it and it provides him with a real sense of confidence. His drama coaches are outstanding and have the experience be very person centered. I love that Eli is busy for 2 hours, and that he is able to really engage in the artistic process of acting and creating art. Art Stream is truly a wonderful organization.
