VisArts is a wonderful treasure to the residents of Rockville and nearby cities. They have a number of art programs tailored to the young and young at heart. Its home building is newly constructed, conveniently located, has ample parking and managed by dedicated and helpful staff. I am writing this as a new volunteer, yet I can tell everyone at VisArts looks forward to its bright future. It is a non-profit organization that strives each day for improvement and volunteers are welcomed and appreciated.

I would like to express my enthusiasm for the adult ceramics program at Vis Arts where I am now enrolled for my second year!

Vis Arts is a wonderful resource for the Rockville community, and I am grateful to have their beautiful facility open to the greater community for exploring and building new sets of skills in the arts. I have found the staff to be exceptionally supportive and their open studio times for enrolled ceramics students to be great for practicing skills learned during class times.

Visart was amazing to my niece and nephew during camp. They were so attentive and the kids came home excited every day. The programs there are amazing for children and adults. I just signed up for a couple of classes myself.

I am an intern at VisArts and it is a wonderful experience for me. When I first entered the building, I was very nervous since I had never had a job before, but everyone treated me kindly so it was easy to communicate with them. They assigned me simple tasks at first so that I could get use to their working enviroment. Later they gave me greater assignments to do. If an intern doesn't understand or doesn't know what to do in the task they are given, their is always someone in the office that takes their time to explain to them the procedures.
It is simply a lovely experience for me, and I can just tell that it is the same for my other intern friends here at VisArts. I am glad that I came to VisArts to begin my working experience, and I am verty thankful to the teacher that recommended me to work here.

I work at VisArts as the Events Coordinator. I also do photography for the organization. I have a background in events as well as photography. I believe VisArts is a wonderful arts nonprofit Institution. Everyone working here believes in what they do and in the organization, is dedicated to art, and the community. We believe in what we do, we are proud of what we do, and we would like to share all of that to the community. We have amazing instructors, talented resident artists, 3 great galleries, a wonderful facility, but most importantly a dedicated hard working staff. Not only that we have a large Events Room for any occasion.

Being a nonprofit in general comes challenges, that is typical of any nonprofit organization, especially a small one. We have amazing instructors, talented resident artists, and a wonderful facility. I wish more people knew of our location. We are hidden on a side street of Gibbs St, in Rockville Town Center.

I work at VisArts currently as an Intern from highschool and I love it. I currently manage several social media websites that help promote the organization. My bosses are great and are always polite when asking me to do something, no matter how small. And I've never talked with the board members but I know they are currently active when dealing with money and complaints, to make the organization better for everyone. Everyone is perfecrt in accomplishing work on time and organized and from what I know of, all of our most recent reviews from students and the public are great. I even have friendly comversations with anyone that walks in the door becuase everyone seems to be in a great mood when they come to VisArts.

I started taking classes at VisArts when it was Rockville Arts Place. I became so obsessed with ceramics that I became a resident artist and later on a Board member. I've been with the organization through its good years and its bad years and I have never been more optimistic about our future.
We have rebuilt our education program, mounted excellent and well reviewed art exhibits and are partnering with our Rockville Town Square neighbors to a degree we never have before.
Our board has been restructured and is focused on building a sustainable and well run organization.
I cannot imagine how a part time (at best) consultant could make the unfounded and untruthful statements that she has about an organization that will celebrate its 25th year in existence in 2012.
I strongly encourage everyone to visit our website and more importantly, our facility to check out the wonderful and creative things that happen here each day.

I am writing this because I think people should be warned.

VisArts is a poorly run organization, and if you are thinking of applying for a job there, think again.

he board is inactive except for a few people who are extremely hard to work with and generally ignorant of best practices in nonprofit fundraising and management. When I came on board as a fundraising consultant, I was told that I should not contact the past THREE people who had been in that role for unexplained reasons. Of course I didn't find this out until I had accepted the position.

The board members who hired me did not even know where the fundraising files were. I actually had to search the office for days to find them.

There were times when no one was there to open the office for regular business hours despite the fact that staff are supposed to be there at 9 and no one had informed management they would be late or out for the day.

I am not the kind of person who is prone to bitterness and vengeance. I just honestly had a TERRIBLE experience working with VisArts and its board, and I would like to save other people's time and energy if I can.
